Hi Alex, sorry to hear that the cravings are really bad at the moment, as Marg has said the will get easier I promise. Don't worry about the eating thing for the moment deal with the nicotine monster and then dealing with the eating, one thing at once.

I would recommend plenty of reading and posting, do some planning as to what you are going to spend the money on. Many of us notice that we have more time as well so plan something nice to do with your extra time and money. Let us know what you come up with.

Don't know if you have heard this before, but if you are about to cave you have to post on here and then wait for 5 replies before you do anything.

Keep strong, I am sending you some PMA (positive mental attitude) and a great big hug, hope it helps.

Stay Strong

Hi Alex...You are doing good...The feeling of failure you would get from lighting up would be much worse than the cravings...

Eat and be merry... And like the other advice...reading is a great way of resetting the mind to stop you thinking you need cigarettes. Allen Carr's easy way got me on track...I really have no cravings and feel full of life!

I'm on the look out for what music inspires people to keep going...I put a post on the day 3 area...

Have you got any recommendations?

Marg and Bev its great to still see you on here and thanks for the words of advice & massive hug! Right back atcha :)

I woke up this morning (starving) but mostly my first thought was 'I want to smoke', literally a millisecond later I completely blocked that thought out my head and went downstairs to make a cuppa tea. No idea at what point smoking took over my life like this but it sucks!

Also defrog I don't know many songs like that but you guys should check out this, its pretty mint

Great Link

WOW! I have been beating myself up about dwelling on the past and not looking to the future... My future is so bright right now that just about all my wishes have come true...I am a lucky man...

I put it down to smoking giving me a lack of confidence, time to take hold of the moment... Gonna be different from now on.

Great link

cheers

I know exactly how your feeling. Day 6 for me. Can't believe that it can take over every thought. Nearly at a week though so we need to keep going. Have you got the worst sore throat ever?

Isn't it lovely brushing your teeth in morning though - I am keeping that thought with me!

I'm on day 7 no fags, day 6 of CT.

The weight thing is pretty awful. I have been eating like a pig all week. I've read up on all the stuff about nicotine and blood sugar and I understand most of it, it makes sense. Understanding it doesn't stop you from being hungry and eating like an effing pig though!

I had a real downer this morning when I weighed myself. Nearly 16 stone. I was 14 stone when I stopped playing rugby 3 years ago. But the guys are right. Deal with the withdrawal first, then the weight...I think if I do this, actually quit the fags, then losing a stone in weight won't seem so difficult!

slipped up

I made a little mistake ........ :( I work with this guy that smokes and just ate some food and my cravings were really bad, so I asked him for one. Still happy though as by this time from the start of my quit I would have usually smoked 50-60 fags which disgusts me, I had one and it tasted disgusting and upset my stomach!

Btw not only does brushing your teeth feel amazing but everything feels so much better! Literally everything. Life is good!!

Put the mistake behind you and move on, you seem to be looking positively about it and not oozing about the experience, so put it down to just that, experience, but be sure you learn something from it to keep with you the next time you get a crave!

I am eating for Wales at the moment, but I will sort that out later.

Great quote by Alexander Graham Bell, so very true.

Good luck, Lorraine.
