Now then folks hope your all ok. Im nearly at the end of day 4, A little concerned that this time its going a tad easy.
This time i know im using my electric cigarette, before ive tried patches, the inhaler from the doctor, cold turkey etc etc and each time ive fallen. This time it all seems a little different. I know im far from the clearing but day four has come rather quick and a lot less painful than on recent quits. A little unnerving.

thanks guys, i tend to agree with you Kat, i cant help thinking im cheating by still having another form of nicotine still entering my body. I must admit i have started using it more than i was than when i was smoking.
Have i replaced cigarettes with the e-cig??? Am i falsely stopping??? Am i a fraud???
At this stage I wouln't stress it! I took lozengers for 2 months and had the same concerns as you, because I found it reletively painless.
No black depression or foul temper as in previous attempts. I reduced my NRT slowly and have now been clean for 3 days.
One of the best pieces of advice I had re NRT (on this forum of course) was to have a plan in place to reduce it.
That way you're making two lots of progress, one is the number of days smoke free, the other is the strength/frequency of the NRT.
I think it also depends how you visualise the e-cig, do you see it as a 'smoke' or do you see it as a way of getting the nicotine that you're addicted to while you quit the fags.
It's no different to using crutches or a wheelchair if you were to break a leg. To continue the analogy, later on you can start physiotherapy with a view to building up your muscles and dispensing with the walking aids. For now though, use those crutches as much as you need to.

H Si,
Congrats on you day 4, e-cigs have always been a source of controversy in this place peoples views have changed it seems as I was categorically told no dont use it it's the devils work etc etc.... I have had many a row with people trying to defend my decision on using an ecig in my last quit.... Lol... You are not smoking tobacco you are inhaling vapour, big difference...whether you use patches ecig gum whatever as long as you aren't inhaling 4000 vile chemicals it's all good, glad day 4 has arrived with no dramas, best thing to do is try and cut down the juice to lower mg of nicotine as time goes on with a view to getting to 0% eventually, keep up the good work fella
Well folks here i am on my day 7!!!! is going pretty well, was a bit twitchy over the weekend as i think thats when i smoked the most. But i managed to sort the prangs with a bit of electric cig. Must admit a week has gone by without much worry.
Ive knocked down the strength to medium and only using as a last resort. rather than having it in my hand 24/7.
Here's to the next 7 days, Keep up the good work guys it can only be for the better.

Nice one, that first week is hellish, fairplay to you
Thanks for the big ups guys, ive just been rereading some of my posts from my first quit many moons ago, if i have stuck with it id have been in the penthouse now. Tsk. never mind eh have to look forward and not back, i was along with a few others started the Dollys mixtures. I have great admiration for the guys that made it. i was one of the unlucky ones that time. This time folks.
Hi Kat, thanks for that we all need to be told were doing ok. we all have doubt. I know what you are saying about the e-cig ive also seen people start on them saying there the best thing ever, then stop using them and start full on smoking again. i must admit i started using mine a few weeks ago allowing me to cut down, which it did, and final the easy decision to stop. It was not something i planned to do to stop im mean i was just sat here last monday night and thought, hey why not try again.
The thing i hate about stopping is the fact after so many times of failing people around you dont have the enthusiasm they did before and they just seem to entertain you, secretively thinking, weve been here before!!
Its a terrible thing to break is smoking not only the nicotine but the habit & the social aspect too. Im finding that the e-cig IS working for me for now, like ive said i know to be careful and not replace one habit with another. I feel good within myself Kat, nothing really to write home about to be honest, maybe its waiting for me to stop the e-cig and then bang.
Who knows, all i know at the moment ive managed somehow to stop off the sticks for a week. i do feel pleased for myself.

You are STILL part of Dolly's Mixtures Si, 1 week down today eh
Make sure you always have things to do at the weekends, that's where you found it tough last time.
Well done, 7 days seems like a lifetime doesn't it, but you won't count the days forever and before you know it it will be one month then two! I have an e-cigarette and I doubt I would have quit properly without it. I am planning on reducing the nicotine levels over time and trying not to worry about it! carry on the good work
Si, I'm also on the ecig. It has been a life-saver! It just takes away the 'panic' and feelings of deprivation. It really has made a world of difference to me - the difference between success and failure actually. DO NOT feel guilty. We can deal with any ecig issues later when the pressure's off.
