Day 4 Just coming to an end

I can't believe I'm writing in a forum (never done this before), but I'm cold Turkey on day 4 and it's doing my head in! That's why I'm here! I've been surfing the net for the last couple of hours and came across you guys, maybe this is where I've gone wrong before - always tried it on my own. Anyway i had my last smoke on Sunday 15th November. I've smoked for over 20 years up to 20 a day, have quit a couple of times in the past and even managed 3 months once, but got lolled into a false sense of security and thought one wouldn't hurt - how wrong was I!

Hi Sharkey - you have definitely come to the right place. Like you I have tried to quit dozens of times over the past 30 years without success. The support from this forum has made all the difference for me.

Well done on completing 4 days already. Stick around and post often. You'll make new friends and find willpower you didn't think was there because all these people want to help you. Good luck.

Hi, Welcome to you

Finding this site with all it's great tips and seeing people get through the worst days and come through the other side is really very helpful.

There's a lot of info here, read posts from around the same time as your quit and ahead, be prepared...... forward is forearmed and all that ....

All the best in getting further and stronger into your smoke free days

I know where you're coming from! I once did 4 years- how ridiculous to start again! But, learning what the triggers are, and that you can never have even 1 puff again, that's the trick I think.

There's some great stuff in the longer term stoppers sigs, links to fab sites that really keep you focussed and keep your mind in the right place. I been re- reading Allen Carr (someone posted a linkie to a download of his book, free!) and that has been great.

If you really want to be smoke free you will do it. Just believe in yourself, and believe and trust the wisdom of all those who have left the stinking, nasty, expensive, dangerous, anti-social, sh*t weed behind them! I've taken so much strength from this site, and so much support. What's helped a lot is reading ahead, to the posts at month 1, month 6, 1 year. That's inspirational!

Best of luck, you can do it X

I'm off to bed - so I've definitely got through day 4!. Back to work tomorrow though, bit worried about it as I would normally have had a fag any chance I got, I'm sure I will find other things to occupy me (like working!)

Hi Sharkey :D

Well done you day 4 done and dusted soon be a week for you now

Days 3/4 tend to be really hard for a lot of us but the first week is a bit of an endurance test for most of us after that it starts getting easier

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here

are 2 I found very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com

Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quitting whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Love

Marg
