Stopping in an hour!

Hey everyone

I am finally stopping smoking today (again)

Have 1 left and am going to smoke it in an hours time and really think about what i am doing and the reasons i want to quit.

I am 33 now and have a 1 year old son so that should be enough of a reason to stop let alone the thousands of other reasons.

Been smoking about 10-12 a day now for about 15 years and although my mind is telling me to put it off until after the weekend, i know its just the nicotine telling me not to.

So welcome everyone, hope you're all a friendly bunch and look forward to speaking to you soon :)

Steve

Hi Steve,

Woo Hoo! Well done in anticipation of that last fag.

I started Champix yesterday, so in 9 days (or when I feel like it), I shall be with you on it (or rather, off it!).

Think about your son and stay strong. It's an addiction. You're not bad for doing it all these years and every person on this forum has been there and done it. You don't need it or want it, no matter what your mind and body is telling you.

I started on this forum yesterday, and everyone is really nice and supportive. I'm sure that the days you're stressed, angry, thinking of going back, someone will be here to help you (including me). Don't think too much about the last fag, it's no big deal. It's just getting rid of an annoying thing in your life (like a mosquito bite...no matter how much you have the urge to scratch the itch, you know you'll just end up worse off).

Take care and keep hold of this site on your internet, iphone or phone and there will always be someone to help.

Well done! Your son would be very proud of you.

Done it!

Hey everyone thanks for all your comments

Just smoked my last cigarette wooohoooo!

So in the past i tried patches, hypnotist, will power, i even spent £500 on teeth whitening thinking it would make me stop doh!

the best i ever did was ready allen carrs book and it really made me think about the psychological reasons.

so now with all the experience of my previous attempts and reasons why i started again i feel very positive and wont let it catch me out again.

I AM A NON SMOKER :)

take care everyone and i'll update soon

hey guys and girls, thanks for all your messages of support.. i can see this forum is going to be really useful in the coming days and weeks

So its been about 7 hours now since i had my last cigarette at lunchtime and feeling very good about myself. just had a lovely dinner and instead of rushing out in the garden for a fag i have come upstairs to come on this forum. Excellent way to "ignore" the pangs ....

Did get a bit ratty with my wife earlier, and she didnt help by saying - "whats wrong with you, you're in a terrible mood" when i actually thought i was in a really good mood hahahah

and then shortly followed by "ahhhh of course, you stopped smoking, again!" arrrgghhhh annoying at the time, but funny now, think she is getting me back for those times i'm like "ahhh of course its that time of the month " ooops

Looking forward to day 2 tomorrow and for me its gym day, which i love anyway, and now without the fags i can really push myself harder

Hows everyone else getting on?

take care

Hey Stevie!

Well done hun! You're doing so well!!!

First hurdle over. 7 hours without a fag is fab and a massive step! I hate it when you get comments from your wifes/husbands. This step is enormous and it's temporarily all consuming (every thought, every walk, every activity, every cup of tea!) but I promise you, it will get easier and the thoughts get less. I quit for 2.5 years totally cold turkey and the first week is a test but you WILL cope, then, the next one is going down the pub but again, you WILL cope without the weed!.

All is takes is time, patience and being able to scream when you need to (I'm hoping the forum will be good for this!). I like the idea of you going on the forum rather than smoking though, I'm going to start that when I get to day 10 of my pills, thanks for the tip!

Keep me updated on your progress and it's nearly midday..half way to 2 full days without them!

Well done and take care
