My Reasons

First up I have Asthma so the main reason is for my health. It's possible that I developed Asthma due to smoking, so I want to stop before any more damage is done.

The other 4 reasons are my daughter, 2 step daughters' and the bump my partner is carrying. I'd like to see my grandchildren and I don't think it's right to smoke around them.

Good for you!! Kids are an excellent reason to be putting down as why you want to quit smoking. Yes we all made the mistake of falling into the smoking trap, but we are here now with the solid intention of quitting the addiction, and to top our list we are also aiming to ensure our kids or kids belonging to those close to us don't use us as an example to follow and later smoke because you did.

I applaud that, thats being responsible, and ... good luck on your new baby when the lovely day arrives.

I totally support your reasons. I couldn't tell how long you've been quit and if you're going cold turkey or using a quit smoking aid.

I used Champix and I decided to stop Champix this weekend. So of course I ended up back on this site (I haven't been here for weeks ... sorry , everyone).

I also have asthma but I had it since childhood so not smoking related. Since I quit some 8 or so weeks ago (not sure), I haven't had an episode. Do I feel I breathe easier? Probably not but I'm recovering from a serious illness. I do have very increased energy, and that is wonderful. I no longer miss smoking and I think people standing outside in the snow to smoke (like I used to) look ridiculous.

Just keep it up! It gets easier bit by bit every day and you will have those days with your grandchildren down the road.

Have a great smokefree day

Kari

My signature isn't going up for some reason.....I'm entering week 3 of my quit and am using Champix. The first week was tough but it seems a little easier now. My asthma is a little up in the air but generally I'm breathing a little better too. :)

lespaul there may be a new user limitation on use of signatures and forum personal messages until you've shown that you've made a certain amount of posts. (perhaps 10 or more)... its just to safeguard against the many hundreds of spam accounts that get created on here.. its nothing personal i don't think.
