Well here I am again but this time I feel happy and excited about my quit. When I have tried before I have always had a feeling of dread, that I will fail before I even began.
I went to see the nurse at my doctors and explained that every time I have tried before I just found that after a few weeks that smoking was easier to do than remembering all the other things I needed to do to stay smokefree i.e. change the patch, or make sure I've got enough cartridges with me if I'm going out or the day etc. Also the cravings for the cigarettes didn't really seem to be eased by which every method of nrt I was using because I was always stressed about it.
She recommended champix as I already take tablets in the morning and evening and that this would be a better quit method for me as my life style is very hectic at the best of time.
So here I am on day 3 on the champix and i feel really excited that this time I will see it through and I will become a non-smoker.

Just wanted to wish you all the best and the extra strength you need to get by on your first week with your new found determination. Good luck, and hope you find this champix to be agreeable. I've heard good things from folk about champix, and although i'm not using that myself, hope that it has the same success as others have found.
I'm on my 3rd week atm on patches myself, but i keep checking this day 1 forum as its nice to see folk giving no smoking a go.
Peace to you, good luck and do post your experiences here whether positive or not and make this place your home for a while
I am a fellow Champixer! I am now on Day 20 of Champix and Day 10 of not smoking!
I was just like you - tried everything else! Champix has been great for me, and despite living with another smoker I have no desire to have one at all - which is amazing!
Good luck with it - and keep us up to date with what is happening in your world - we're a nosey bunch you know!
Good luck. I've always bben a bit wary of trying the drug avenue, but if i can't do it with the patches this time then maybe it's time to try something different. Be interested to know how you get on.
Well I am on day 6 of taking champix and to be honest I am finding it hard to smoke a full cigarette. Don't seem to have any side effects at the moment, just keep getting a slight headache when I do smoke.
I only smoked 5 cigarettes yesterday so I have 4 left in the packet I will have those for today and I think that I won't bother to get another packet in so that I will hopefully start my smoke free life tomorrow.
hope that everyone is doing great speak again soon
I'd just bite at the bit now, and dump smoking entirely. Tangerines or Mandarin's at the ready too.. dunno what it was them first few days, but i seemed to love eating those small orange type fruits I only ate a dozen on the first day
Well I have only had 1 cigarette today and then I only smoked half of it, the rest is still in the ashtray.
So tomorrow its the start of my new life as a smoke free woman.
Also noticed today how much more time I have, done the normal Sunday chores but found that I have had quite a bit of spare time. My son pointed out that I wasn't stopping to have a cigarette all the time, and that the work was getting done quicker. Now realise how much of my time was taken up by smoking and that it meant that the chores took longer to get done and that meant less time for myself and my family!!
So here goes, before I go to bed tonight the cigarette are going to be flushed down the toilet and then it full steam ahead.
hi debbie, well done you , good luck for tomorrow .. i too felt excited for quit & im still here almost 5 weeks on:):):):)& like you previous quits i dredded them ........keep posting &.let us know how you get on x
Well this morning I woke up and the first thing I thought about was a cigarette:(, but then I remembered that today is my first day of non-smoking.
So I told myself that I didn't want a cigarette, I just wanted a cup of tea and some toast.
Been up now for 2 hours and have thought about a cigarette may be twice but I haven't wanted one, so now its time for me to start the battle of changing the way my mind thinks. A cup of coffee doesn't have a cigarette with it, waiting for the washing machine to finish it cycle, doesn't mean it time to have a cigarette as it will make the time pass faster, and so on.
Feeling good, now have to train my brain I have to tell it that the little white stick has left for good. Its time for me to prove to everyone that I am strong and that yes they were right I can do this. Thanks for all your support it really does help.
Well done Debby - that training is interesting - it's like having a new puppy! You have to find some sneaky ways sometimes! The one I got stuck with was what to do whilst waiting for the kettle to boil - now I just flick it on and go back to what I was doing rather than standing there waiting!
Good morning woke up and for the first time since I can remember, it wasn't the thoughts of were are my cigarettes I need one.
My first thought was what am I going to do today, and I want a cup of tea
Yesterday wasn't to bad, thought about cigarettes quite a bit but didn't want one or miss not having one. I just need to get the thoughts of them out of my head and then things will be great.
Not having any problems yet with the champix but am starting the blue one today. Took the one for this morning and still feel ok.
Hope that everyone is doing great.
Thanks for your support and yes it is easier to walk away and let the kettle boil, as that was when I would have a cigarette while I waited to make the cuppa.
