I had nicotine gum but gave it up after afew days as it made me have a really sore throat. I kept it in my bag just in case I needed it but havent looked back.
I think most forms of NRT are for 12 weeks and the dose should get reduced but I was given nearly 300 chewing gums when I started my quit and havent really had much contact from the nurse since I told her I had stopped taking NRT.
I would ask the advice of a stop smoking person if you have one and Im sure there will be someone on here that can help
Hi JLG, I have used the chewing gum, the fruity one, but didnt like it, but defro put me off smoking when u get through to the nicotine bit, so does work. Whatever helps YOU is the main thing, as we have all got here different ways. But the main point is "We are all NOT smoking", and when u feel ready to come of the chewy, then do so..... Kaz
I used lozenges and stopped them after about 10 weeks, basically as soon as I was confident that I could manage the quit with out them.
I didn't cut down I just stopped and found that I felt weird for about 3 days then a week after I had some strong cravings but within a few days of that I was feeling exactly the same as I did while taking them.
Looking back on it I now see the role of NRT is more as giving me the confidence to quit rather than actually helping much with the withdrawal symptoms of quitting
