Hey guys!

I'm 33. I started smoking when I was 15, so I smoked for 18 years.

On may 1st, I was watching tv and having a smoke, as usual. Suddenly, I started coughing like I'd never coughed before. I can't find the words to describe it... maybe violently coughing. And I felt as if my lungs had gotten smaller... a lot smaller... I swear it felt as if though my lungs had reduced 10 times... I started breathing really fast...

That was my last cigarrete. I quit, cold turkey. After 18 years of smoking, I quit.

That was 21 days ago.

2 days after I smoked my last cigarrette, I started exercising. I haven't exercised since I was 18.

First, walking. 1 hour a day. First day, I felt I was going to die. By the end of the first week, I felt a lot, lot better.

This past monday I started attending a gym.

I really feel good. In fact, I feel GREAT!

I still get pretty bad cravings, but I've been able to control them... (been chewing a lot of sugar-free chewing gum) and I haven't relapsed.

And I'm NEVER smoking again.

Thought I'd share with you guys how happy I am.

P.

Ps. Please forgive me if what I write doesn't make much sense. English is not my first language.

Welcome to the forum, Pedro.... and a great post! Very positive and determined! Great job on 3 weeks! Craves can still be bad around that time..... give it a few more days and you will see how much better things get! For me day 28 was the magic day things truly turned and became relatively easy..... glad to have you here!

Welcome and well done on 21 days, that's 3 weeks, soon be talking in months. I think your command of the English language is excellent, I would never have known it wasn't your first language, better than some British I would say.

I wish you many more happy smoke free weeks.

Jackie

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

Well done you on your 3 week quit, you sound really strong and determined what you wrote makes perfect sense and I wouldn't have known that English is not your first language
