Hi, can I ask if any one has managed to stop smoking using the patch, it's beginning to worry me that I will have to go on the lesser patch soon, am managing but it concerns me that it will be to much to go on the lesser patch
Day 21 and struggling: Hi, can I ask if any... - No Smoking Day
Day 21 and struggling
Hi Tracey, I did but I only used them for about 3 weeks.
I am sure that your body will adjust qickley to the lower dose, the third week I was on them I cut the big ones in half and really didn't even notice. then I forgot to put one on so just didn't bother anymore.
Do you remember how you felt the day before you quit? scared? worried? unsure that you would manage without your crutch of a fag...that is how you mind is now with the patches, worried that you wont cope, that you'll have to saty on the high ones forever.
That's nicotine for you, still gripping your heart and lungs and squeezing.
Don't be worried or scared. Reducing your patches so you quit wont kill you...however smoking again might!
Txx
Thanks
Yes never thought of it that way, good advice. You have don brilliant, thanks again tracey.
Don't worry about it hun, you'll be fine
You've done the hard part stopping smoking, dropping to the lower patches won't be anything like as tough as that
Hi my nurse said to me as I started on step 2 that I could stay on them for a while as she does not want to go by the book with everyone, she said its more about the person.
So iv been on these now for 6 weeks going into 7 weeks tomorrow, I have two weeks left. She said next time I will swap between step 2 and step 1 for a week and gradually do more step 1 days until I'm on step 1.
Hi, Tracey!
I agree with everyone else that it's the fear again. You dealt with it when you stopped the fags, so you know that you CAN do it. Go on........be brave. I'll be rooting for you.
Val
Thanks one and all

Keep going Tracey, I bet you don't even notice the difference in the strength. You have done so well up to now so Onwards and Upwards for you.

I promise it won't be. It is all consuming in the early days you just have to dig in. We have all been where you are so we know how you are feeling but IT DOES GET BETTER! That is a promise.

Think of it like ending a relationship, it's a bit like that
You've smoked for years, and IMO at least smoking becomes a part of you and your routine - if you think about it smoking uses all your senses - to suddenly stop it is a shock to your body and your brain *but* it does go away when your brain catches on you're a non-smoker now!!
Tracey are you treating yourself kindly and giving yourself rewards for not smoking? Yesterday (my Day 1) I ate two medium sized bars of chocolate and a tin of cashew nuts to keep me happy! Absolute treats they were. Obviously I can't do this every day, but I found that treating myself kindly was a great help.
I was at work yesterday morning, so that mostly took my mind off the fags, but as soon as I finished work and started to relax, well, then the thoughts of fags came into my mind. So I tried to concentrate my mind on other things, such as being on here, making the tea, doing the washing and so on. With each task, after a few moments all thoughts of fags had gone....that was because I was concentrating on what I was doing.
It might be worth giving it a go......"taking your mind off the fags" might sound a bit corny, but it's worth a go. Heck, anything is worth a go! Don't forget to reward yourself as well!
Val
congratulations,three full weeks :D
Thanks
Hi just re reading all the lovely support that you all give out, bought a cook book to day, love cooking, could of so easily been white sticks at 40p each but decided a book would do instead.
Is any one on day 21 of quitting using patch, would love to hear how you getting on. Difficult day to day
