Hi Alan

I knew you wouldn`t let me down.

Now for next wednesday , one thing is that by not smoking your extraction site will heal alot more quickly and you will be less likely to get a dry socket.

I had a tooth out about 2 months ago, I wont lie , it wasn`t nice but now i will never have toothache again there.YIPEEEE.

I always have to get myself prepared for the dentist and i wont have fillings , i just get them to take the tooth out. No more pain, but does leave you with false teeth. HEHE.

I have false teeth on the top and only have 6 of my own teeth on the bottom.

I cant wait for them all to come out.

Smoking wise, i have done really well today. I have only thought about fags once and it was only a thought, not an "i want a fag " thought just an" oh fags" thought , then it was gone in 2 seconds.

Well done Alan

Well Done Alan

Sooo pleased for you that you stood firm...I know what a nightmare

the dentist is!! See more of mine than my husband;)

Another thing to remember about your appt. next week, is that

now you are an EX smoker, likehood is your teeth

will improve... I'm banking on that as it was one of the reasons

I quit!?!?!:p

stay strong, you and Barb spur me on...being old team mates!!;)

Smirn, my tooth extraction was nowt to do with smoking/stopping smoking. Just wanted to clear that up! On my part anyway...

But yes, I can see how you might think that.

Glad you got today over with Alan. Dentist's are lovely people really  They're still human. I think. Good luck for next Wednesday. I hope it goes ok for you. Hell, look on the bright side, it can't be any worse than my tooth extraction/after effects :) So yeah, its gonna be ok!

Funny thing happeneing here. I too have lost a tooth since quitting and reading through the forum so has Maddy.

I thought cessation was supposed to make your gums stronger and your teeth better rooted or summat?

Smirn,

quitting IS supposed to improve your oral health BUT it will take some time for the recovery process to take place - especially if you've been smoking for a long time...

and btw...I've had tooth extracted in last month too:eek:

I know it is clutching at straws but of the people who have kept a quit 4 out of around 30 present forum users is a lot.....

Ps well done Barb and Allan, always have followed team dday quit cos you are 7 days behind me on the quit so I see it happen to you 7 days after me (mostly). Thought there was 5 of you!

Add me to the dental list. I had a tooth extracted a month into my quit. I was to blame though, cracked it in half with an aniseed ball!! The tooth was a dud anyway loads of work already done , told the dentist to pull it, the sod to date had cost me hundreds of pounds, enough was enough.

Oh i broke a tooth too, It was on my first quit in October last year. toffee was the culprit that took the filling out. Then munching pork scratching's in the pub instead of puffing outside, Well that smashed the remains Ahhh!!!

Do you eat the 'scratchings' that have 'hair' on them still??????

Man I love Pork Scratchings too, but I can't let myself dwell on what they actually are 'cos then I'd just get totally grossed out and wouldn't eat 'em. I do like 'em though when I'm brave enough to eat 'em but I just can't 'do' the hairy ones :o
