And a very good morning to you all :)

It's Friday, which means i am on my third day of the quit and as well as the third day the one when all the nicotine leaves your body, i have a success story to tell you all from last night.

It's nothing special or overly exciting but last night i went to a friends flat, the last time i went there i was a smoker, (2 days before my quit) and there were three other people there all of them smokers, and they smoked while i was there

One of them, who is a good mate just likes to prove everyone wrong now and again to make himself feel better kept on offering me a cigarrette, you all know someone like this, they will smoke your fags when you got them but then never offer you one when you run out!

Had he got me started again he would of laughed and moved onto jeering about my being too weak to quit, but i held firm and i just laughed it off and everytime a craving came along it wasn't as strong and i got over it in the time it took me to finish laughing at him and make a coffee.

I was there three hours then i made my way home to bed and here i am today still a non smoker, and it's the biggest feeling of pride!

I feel great for not smoking, and more than that i feel great because the peer pressure that once got me hooked on the foul weed no longer has a hold on me because last night i looked right at it, and laughed in it's face.

I hope everyone from Day 2 is here with me today and Chuddy i hope your doing well in Day 4 mate! i'll be with you tomorrow, and Kika if your lurking do drop us a message i know your one of the quiet ones but don't suffer in silence, quit in confidence and share you experiences with us =)

Have a fantastic day everybody and heres to a smoke free weekend! *toasts*

Fantastic!! Similar thing happened to me last Sunday - I was so damned proud that I didn't take a cigarette and you should be so proud of yourself too. I honestly do think that friends who continue to smoke and try to get you back on the weed are secretly jealous that you have found the strength and commitment to quit.

Well done , Jimi! :D

I remeber once, I had a "friend" like that who kept trying to get me to start smoking again, "Come on, you know you want to!"......

Eventually I got so pssst off with her, that the next time she waved a cigarette under my nose, I took it and said, "Thanks" ;)

I then proceeded it rip it into little pieces. The look of horror on her face was worth it, and she never offered me another cigarette! :D

Some great replies there and thank you to you all for your continued support!

Good Karma all round i reckon ;)

And your right, they are jealous that i have the strength to break free from the addiction, and by offering me fags they want to console themselves in the knowledge that i am as weak as they are.

But i know they would have been applauding me in secret when i left ;)

Nice One Mate

You should invite him to your pad for a meal or a drink and when he goes to have a smoke explain to him its a none smoking zone :D

I know that does not take back what he tried to do to you but watch his faces when you tell him you don't want your pad smelling of smoke ?

And well done for saying NO mate :D

Keep the faith

Good on you Jimi, that's one big hurdle that you have got over.

That is wicked mate, glad you managed to stay strong there. I had that test on the first day, but seeing as you're into to difficult period, you've done really well! Smoking mates can be bastards though  Hold onto that feeling of pride and hark back to it when you're feelin low!

Not doing great today myself. Feeling cranky and irritable at times. Kind of fidgety. Just had a great stress reliever though: chucking old circuit boards and heavy copier parts into the wheelie bins. Feel much better :)

I like the idea of world peace tomorrow! Me, you and Obama? We can do it!

Thanks again and i'm glad my positive thinking has inspired some of you for when you feel the need to overcome bad times.

Hey Chuddy!

Hang in there mate, fidgety sucks! but i like the sound of chucking old (but previously expensive) stuff away =) the breaking noises are so exciting!

The most fun i had was throwing old printers and scanners into a skip, if they didn't smash i leapt in there with a clawhammer and belted the buggers from one end of the skip to the other just to hear them break :)

Everytime you get fidgety and crabby go out and break something! just make sure it's not needed before you do or you may well drive someone else to smoking!

Hi Jimi

I'm on Day 3 too and have been feeling fidgety all morning. Told a work colleague I could do with a fag, he promptly said no you don't. Then the fire alarm from Pizza Hut below us went off continuously and I forgot about the fag. :p Have now got a headache from the noise:rolleyes:

Anyways, thank you for posting about your day. What chucking things in a skip did for you the fire alarm did for me. I feel a lot better now (apart from the headache of course).

Onwards and upwards.

Hi Jan

:) saved by the bell eh? It was good of your colleague to remind you that you don't need a fag, ok three days isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but when you consider what you put yourself through over the last three days to get where you are it is a very big obstacle to overcome.

Well done you for hanging on and keeping your resolve against the deadly weed, have a fantastic day. =)

Well done! I had a similar test last sunday. One of my mates came round while I was upstairs and he let himself in and when I got downstairs he was in my kitched having a fag, as we always would have done. I hadn't spoken to him since before christmas so he didn't know I'd stopped, and when I told him he felt canny guilty. Anyway, I didn't ask him to stop cos it wasn't his fault and all the time he was smoking I didn't feel the slightest urge to join him. In fact seeing him stood surrounded by a cloud of smoke just disgusted me, and I found the smell absolutely appalling! If anything it just reinforced my desire to not smoke.

Again, well done on passing your 'test'. You should rightly feel proud of yourself! :D
