1 Week today - incredible and some great tips that helped...

Sorry guys, bit long wided so if you can bothered...

Well it's been one week and i have slipped up once. My chest felt like it was on fire and it was pretty gross but haven't been back to the habit since, soooo i'm going to call that a "don't repeat blip" and back to it.

Some tips i have:

[*]Exercise - 30 minutes on a bike, walk, up and down stairs, around the block, pilates etc - at least every other day.

[*]Drink - lots of non-alcoholic beverages (preferably juice or water) did you know nicotine is water soluble?!?

[*]Sleep - it passes after day 4 and you finally get some, but i found don't exercise too close to bed time and do some "winding down" deep breathing and drink a warm herbal tea (ayurvedic stuff is pretty good PUKKA range) half an hour before hand.

[*]Tell everyone you know, i found that i didn't tell everyone the last time in the hopes that if i needed a cigarette i could go to that person. This time everyone knows and no-ones giving me any. I work with all guys at work and although they tease me mercilessly, they have been ultra supportive. I've actually had people come up to me to say how proud they are, and that gives my ego a bit of a boost.

BREATHE - the single most important thing you can do - keep telling yourself that you don't want to smell, die be worried about dying, worried about lumbs in your lumps, guilty, stinky, have clear skin, feel like you have more energy, desperate or reliant...

I found that substituting stuff, just made me want more of that thing, whether it was gum, carrots etc so i'm just pretending i don't need it and i don't need a replacement. Kind of like when you break up with an idiot and then you go on a rebound date - big mistake and probably just as much of an idiot. Better (for me) to just chill, have some time and find out where i went wrong! And DON'T do it again!

I apparently have a more psychological addiction than physical and the one thing that i heard that has helped me the most is....IT'S TEMPORARY, whatever you are feeling whether it's lack of sleep, headaches, dizzyness craving, restless legs, weepy, angry, agro, whatever - it will not always be there, so ride it out! I kept thinking i've been smoking for more than half my life, i can suffer for a bit for the long term good (a bit martyrish i know)...so there it is...will talk soon!

By the way this is the longest i have not had a cigarette in 17 years (i'm in my 30's) so i hope this has helped.

Sx
