Well as mentioned I am on day 7, this is my 4th attempt and its not too bad, the longest I have ever gone is 2 days This week is the longest I've been without a fag since I was 12 years old!!!!
I wanna feel positive but I know I am easily led, I have a big party and a girls weekend away soon where temptation will be horrendous!!!
I also get concerned about stopping for a few months and then returning to the dreaded weed!!!! AAAAaaaggghh its such a b*oody nightmare!!!!!
I was a 20 a dayer and I dont find it too bad during the day but at night it is mental!!! As I type I am sat here with a full size tin of Quality Street munching away!!!!
I gave already put on 4lb and wondered if anyone had any tips on how to curb the apetite!!?
Thanks for any advice, I am so glad I stumbled upon this site xx

Welcome to the forum!! You are doing amazing. Right now I wouldn't even worry about the weight gain. Get the no smoking thing some what under control before you tackle too many very hard tasks. You are doing great with the no smoking so eat away (try carrot sticks and celery) just to munch on, but if you can't ~ chow down lol!!
After you make it to around a month or even three weeks you will be soooo proud of yourself that you will not want to crack and start smoking again....it's back to the dreaded day 1 and thats not cool!
Welcome to the forum. You will get lots of support here.
You are doing great to get too day 7 so feel very proud of yourself. I have found drinking loads of water has helped me but i am eating quite a bit too. Try to stick to fruit or carrot sticks rather than chocolate. Look at me talking I ate a box of after eights and a large bag of chocolate peanuts today
Think postitive and keep chatting and i am sure you will get through this.

Hi,Donna Iam in the same boat. Ive smoked since I was 12 and tried it all,I am now on champix and I m doing ok but I do fear those times with friends and some of my family who smoke like crazy. Im not sure if all this is just a waste. terry
Quitting smoking is no where near a waste! Even if you are just trying to quit - thats better than never giving quitting a second thought. For the first little while try staying away from smokers if you find that helps you. Your friends and family should undersand and respect your decision
Hi Donna, Welcome and well done, you're doing really well!
The hunger bit is tricky. I was ridiculously hungry, like I've never been before, in the first days (still am really) and found munching on carrots and apples helps loads, as well as sipping water continuously. I've bought one of these bottles that have a small spout and find it's far better than drinking out of a glass or normal bottle (it must be the reassuring feel of the spout between the lips :o). Even thought of using a baby bottle  But my sense of embarrassment saved me ;).
Getting out and about and getting lots of fresh air also helps, taking deep breaths. And while you are out taking the fresh air, walking is also good exercise and makes you feel good.
In any case, the others are right, I think. It's best not to worry about too many things at the same time. Losing weight is a LOT easier than quitting smoking. And once you know you are able to stick at the discipline required for not smoking, you know that, eventually, going on a short diet to get back to where you were will be a piece of cake. Just put that out of your mind right now and concentrate on the quit.
About spending time with smoker friends/family, if you don't feel confident, it might be better to stay away for at least a few more days until you feel you are able to face a smoke-friendly situation.
Anyway WELL DONE! Stay strong and keep posting. It does really help
morning, just wanted to add to what the others have said about eating. Obviously don't go mad with it but if a few sweets get you through the first week then go for it I say. The first week or so I felt so hungry, I would have eaten my own arms at times. It does pass though! Once you get into the next few weeks the appetite calms down and you've got more energy to be a bit more active. Focus on one thing at once, stopping smoking is by far the biggest health benefit you can give yourself.
Congratulations on a successful first week, here's to the rest of them!
well done on your first week, i have also felt hungry, boring i know but a little box of carrots and celery today (a bit of shortbread and a kitkat) would rather be smoke free and a few pounds heavier (i know im a man)
