Hi Dossy

Listen quitting is a process rather than an event in ones life. Sure, after the initial few days of actually NOT smoking it may feel like'the novelty' is starting to wear off. This however is totally untrue. Everyday you don,t have a cig something wonderful is happening. For instance, 2 weeks after my quit I stopped having such a croaky voice bt I developed a cough. This went at the w/e (nearly 4 wks later!) So you never know what day something else fab will happen. I bet things are happening every day to you if you think about it.!:)

Hey you,

Sorry that your feeling so rough at the moment. I am only on day 13 so still struggling a bit although getting easier. So honestly I dont know how I am gonna feel at 3 weeks, but I assume maybe it's about the habit, that you miss smoking???

Maybe we will forever miss smoking?

But you have DONE SOOOOO WELL!! I think we will all need encouragement and help for a very long time after our quit dates, so please dont ever worry about asking, we are all here for each other and together we can do it! Just try to remember why you gave up and how awful you would feel if you had a ciggy!

You can do it xxxx

Trying

I don't think you will aways miss smoking. It will just take abit of time to get used to not having a cig with just about everything you do. I'v only been quit 6 weeks but already I see smoking as something OTHER eople do. I don't hate it or find it disgusting- in fact I can have a conversation with someone who IS smoking but not feel tempted. I still think about cigs - just not in a "I want one " kind of way. More like I don't need to do it anymore. I PROMISE YOU you will NOT MISS IT FOREVER!!!:)

Dossydo you WILL feel so much better soon! My asthma has virtually gone & I do not wheeze at all, it's GREAT!What a fool I've been to smoke all these years with asthma!

On 5th & last month of Champix - Doc won't give me any more as 'they' can't afford. Eeking tablets out now - some days whole one, some days half some days none at all.

Had a ciggie just over 4 weeks ago as was consumed with thought of one all day, smoked it, didn't enjoy it, job done, had no more.

So since mid July have had 7 ciggies - it's getting easier and thoughts of ciggies are fewer and fewer each day. Never thought I'd get to this stage-this forum has helped LOADS!!

One day at a time guys!:)

Hey Dossydo I hope you're doing better now - you've come such a long way, give yourself a break hun :D

First off, never stop being proud of yourself, what you're doing is GREAT even though people around don't see it as anything special - my mom nagged me about smoke for 15 years and when I quit she barely noticed it .

Second, it might help to introduce something new in your life but I suggest do it little by little, not all things new all toghether at once. It really can help keep the enthusiasm and the feeling of novelty. I took small steps, for instance during the first couple months I treated myself to lotsa new stuff I never purchased because I had to save money for ciggies - clothes, furniture, even . Now that things are kind of settling down again and I feel I might need something new to fuel my enthusiasm and keep my energy level high in winter (a season I hate) I'm going to go to the gym. Next thing might be a little trip somewhere with hubby. Simple things, done in a gradual way that adds quality to our lives, helping replace the old, nasty addiction with pleasant, satisfying new routines...it works! ;)
