The thought of giving up smoking put me on a slight buzz throughout day 1 of my quit which got me through.
The novelty is now gone and i'm struggling. I drove my car today for the first time and that was hard also. Both go hand in hand like many things you do with a fag.
I'm quite irritable today and have been constantly thinking about a smoke. I'm hanging in there and i certainly don't want to go back to day 1 again. The thought of that is scary. I would probably smoke for the next couple of years and so i mustn't fail.

Hi Aitch,
What it comes down to is that you either want to stop or you don't. There's probably a bit of fate and time of the moon thrown in but personally I don't think that effects men quite the same.
You need to make a conscious decision to stop and keep to it.
I'm on day 7 and it's a pain for sure .. but not as much of a pain as smoking :o)
The first 3 days are always the worst so if you try and see the way you are feeling as just part of the process of getting the nicotine out of your system you will get through. It worked for me I know what you mean about the novelty wearing off though, I didn't so much want a smoke this afternoon but I wanted a holiday from the quit process Its annoying thinking about fags all the time even when I don't want one. So I went for a walk and then to bed with a book for a while. Feel better now Hope you do too.
yeh stick with the plan ,in my experience you,ll ony have to quit again and probably feel like a loser . stick to your plan you never know you might feel better for it . smoking has naff all going for it . its a bit 1950s anyway the most dull and stupid decade in history.
This may sound silly but.....do people look at themselves in the mirror and see there skin is yellow ? Maybe it's my own imagination but this really bugs me.
I can't wait to see a dentist either.
Here's something that helps me. Just quit for today. Just quit to get through Day 2, and tomorrow you can decide about Day 3.
It's like when I'm riding my bike up a long hill which seems impossible. To get there, I tell myself, "Just ride to the next telephone pole." Then I do that, and I repeat my self-talk. Ride and repeat. Ride and repeat. Pretty soon, I'm at the top of the hill.
You're at the bottom of the hill and it can look intimidating. So break it down, and quit for one day at a time. You can do that (you already have!).

I like that solution DGee.
I'll be on day 3 myself in just over two hours time from now.I've haven't slept very well either since quitting. I get tired but as soon as i shut my eyes all hell breaks loose in my mind and my eyes become very active.
The joys of quitting and what you go through DGee.
My face wasn't so much yellow but gray but the best thing is after a while a normal "pinky" complexion comes back with time and you look far healthier. I seem to blush a lot more too and get redder when I do...weird all those blood vessels being able to vasodilate LOL!

Apparently the skin around my mouth was yellow - didn't realise  Made me feel a bit ill when I was told that! Also teeth were very yellow as well.
Give it a few days and you will start noticing the improvement.
I took it one day at a time when I quit - still do actually. Just think to yourself that you're not going to smoke today. Yesterday was just that - and tomorrow will take care of itself - just concentrate on the next telephone pole!
Good luck - and don't give into the cravings - it really is not worth it.
