kref and justintime are spam identities created to give the impression they're genuine people.

be careful

I started on Champix 11 weeks ago and have had barely any cravings to smoke since I quit. BUT I have had increasingly unpleasant side effects from Champix. Nausea for an hour or so after taking the pill is normal and has only been bad a few times, usually if I've had to take the pill without food. The main problem has been insomnia, which started at about week 6 and has got progressively worse. This has truely messed up my life. On top of that I have had headaches regularly since week 8 (probably related to insomnia). I would recommend anyone who starts on a course of Champix to monitor changes to their body and mind, and be prepared to stop or reduce the dose.

Hi Woodsman,

This insomnia thing appears to be a recurring theme irrespective of the method used to quit. When you traul around the posts you find references to people using the 16 hour patches cos the 24 hour patches mess up their sleep, people like me going CT with disturbed sleep and people on Champix complaining of sleep problems too. It seems to be a problem related to quitting generally regardless of the method employed. My sleep pattern has improved somewhat recently. When I first quit, I kind of experienced a sort of thin disturbed sleep all night long. Now I sleep well till about 3am then wake up and then have on and off fragmented sleep till the morning. I never seem to feel tired as a result during the day though. In fact when I smoked I generally slept until my alarm eventually woke me up (after a few snoozes) and then it typically took me about two hours, 6 fags and a few cups of coffee to be fully functional. Now I have (what I consider) to be disturbed sleep but get out of bed fully awake and don't feel tired during the day. Anyone else noticed the same?? I'm so wide awake before the alarm even goes off. I feel kind of cheated because I didn't sleep the whole time until the alarm went off, but thinking about it I wouldn't choose to go back to that pissed off feeling of being woken up by the alarm and staggering bleerily out of bed and sparking up a fag in an effort to kick start my mushed head.

Talking of sleep I think I need some now

Good night all

I have been on champix for 9 weeks now. Chantix here in america. It has been easy to not smoke. I have posted my side affects in other post under some of the champix threads so please read there. If you are intrested, here in America when you get your starter pack there is a website to track your progress and tips. I think it is quitnow.com Chantix.com has a lot of info on it for here. The dosing is the sam

Good Luck

watch what other meds u take with champix.

Yes, ok, I guess it's maybe a bit much to blame the insomnia on Champix, but the problem has only started in the last few weeks so I'd kind of assumed all the nicotine withdrawal symptoms had gone. I wish I could say that I get out of bed fully awake - more like wishing I could stay and get some proper sleep! But there's no way I'd go back to the alternative, coughing my way to the bathroom and trying to hold out till after breakfast for the first cigarette.

Cheers...
