Here is an something I found on itchy skin. "Symptom 4: Skin Rash/Itching

Kidneys remove wastes from the bloodstream. When the kidneys fail, the build-up of waste in your blood can cause severe itching. Patients also accumulate excessive phosphorus which contributes to itching. Uremic frost is a description for crystallized urea deposits that can be found on the skin of those affected by advanced kidney failure. In states of prolonged kidney failure, high levels of urea are secreted by sweat glands in the skin. As water evaporates off of the skin, it results in crystallization of the remaining urea. Making the appropriate dietary changes including avoidance high protein and phosphate rich foods can reduce itching."

I wonder if a warm not hot shower before bed would help you?

Hi,

I have heard that as the waste products build up in the body as kidneys fail, it somehow ends up irritating the skin surface.

It certainly used to affect me, especially at night. The best solution i found was a warm bath and rubbing my legs with an abrasive sponge. I would then pat dry and apply a gentle moisturizing cream. This gave relief for a few hours and was very useful at night, helping me to sleep better.

Hope this helps you too.

Best wishes,

Mgt

I have this problem all the time! I find that taking a shower before bed and applying moisturizers throughout the day (at least for my hands) helps a lot. Using a soap that moisturizes the skin has helped me as well. I recommend hand soap with aloe vera!
