Stomach and back pains: Hi am Carl, I've got... - Kidney Disease
Stomach and back pains
We are not able to diagnose on this forum. It is best you contact your Doctor about an appropriate diet for your stage 4 CKD, and to determine why you have stomach and back pains.
Hi Carl, welcome to the community! I too have had back pain and following advice from a chap called Lee Hull ( kidney disease sufferer for 25 years and researcher and author) have cut animals out of my diet as well as processed foods. Also aim to drink two litres/4 pints of water daily. I’m not an angel, sometimes I don’t follow it, but 95% of the time I do. Yes it’s difficult, but if the alternative is worsening kidney disease until dialysis, that’s incentive enough. Don’t go too crazy with the exercise, but 30 minutes brisk walking 5 times a week and some strength exercises would be a good aim. Depending on where you live, try and get some more information from a renal dietician and a nephrologist. Good luck in slowing it down and getting rid of most of the pain.
Hi, what’s your Gfr now if I may ask and what was it 25 years ago when you were diagnosed? Thanks
This is going to be a lecture which I am sure you have already heard. Of all the things you can do to help your health quitting smoking is the most crucial. Your kidneys are struggling to filter the toxins in your body and every cigarette is adding crap in. And ten is ten too many. At stage 4, your body is really fighting to keep you going and you are poisoning it. I know quitting is hard, but you must do that. And since you know your diet is not good, your exercise is not going to help the kidneys. You need the right food, kidney health food. But, until you quit, it won't really matter. Smoking constricts the blood vessels, raising your BP and stressing your organs. Stop smoking. End of lecture.
Your “lecture” is, I’m certain, a smoker’s nightmare, and hard to hear, but nonetheless, the best and wisest advice! Good stuff Bassetmommer!! Sorry SkiingSailor. Quitting smoking, as with any other bad habit (and believe me, I understand poor habits), will, in itself, damage your kidneys, with or without following a good kidney diet and exercise plan. Try chewing gum, sucking on a pencil, anything, but please do try to quit the cigarettes. It’ll improve your health on so many levels. All my best to you! God bless. 🙏😊👍✌️
Thanks needed, will stop and report back!
