I weigh the bread, butter it and then weigh it again so I can know for future. My slice of granary bread and butter is 150 calories.

I weigh the bread and butter it while on the scales. A really small amount (10g, which doesn't look like a lot) which covers the bread is around 75 calories.

Blimey that's a lot for such a small amount... thank you

But remember we need some natural fats in our diet Bexmum for vitamin absorption and satiety.

After taking advice on here I have replaced my two slices of toast with low fat spread for one slice of really nice bread with butter. I feel just as full and it's a better balance of nutrients. 😊

I have always assumed it is for a cooked one, but now I am wondering - IndigoBlue61 what do you think?

Have you tried Sweet Potato jackets, they are really yummy, especially with an ounce of cheddar on the top :)

Never tried this. Sounds different.. how do the calories compare?

97 cals per 100g for normal potato

115 cals per 100g for sweet potato but fewer carbs.

I find sweet potato much more satisfying and keeps me full for longer.

Sorry to be so long replying Bexmum I Weigh the potatoes raw before cooking. I weigh most food before cooking actually, 😊 Ps if I'm doing a family meal I will work out then total calories then work out for my share.

Thank you very much

I still have butter on one piece of toast despite the calories :) I find the butter is worth it as it does keep me full for longer than any other breakfast foods seem to!

I know!!! Who would have thought we could eat toast and butter and lose weight? The trick is one small slice a couple of times a week, not 4 slices every night!!! Lol 😂
