Lent begins Weds, give up something for Lent

Weds is a milestone for me, I love anything to do with butter! Butter on bread, toast , sauces, you name it I will throw a bit of butter on it, even weetabix....

So Lent begins Weds and butter is the thing I will give up, it will be hard for me but hopefully I can complete the challenge.

Hidden Gosh, I had forgotten about Lent starting, so thank you for the timely reminder . I've just got to narrow it down a bit and decide what I'm giving up...I've cut right back on so many treats since starting this 12 week programme, I'm hoping it will be easier this year. I also did dry January, and its somehow rolled into Feb, so that's already out, I think it had better be puddings, or the age old favourite of chocolate. What's everyone else choosing ??

Morning I will give up crisps they are my downfall , I have given them up in the past but slowly crept back , so I'm going to give them up again and hopefully for good this time :)

Ooh, I love butter too, Rosie, so I'm giving up oatcakes with butter and coffee with cream :)

Oh yes me too, it is absolutely my achilles heel! Hadnt thought of weetabix , though i have been known to put butter on a poppadum! Thats why I always translate my weight loss into pats of butter - thats exactly what it is!!

I am deeply impressed you are giving it up for lent - good luck to you and i'm sure it will reflect on the scales.

I translate my losses into bags of sugar and imagine carrying them all day in carrier bags, however, pats of butter would be a much bigger number.

Definitely - going by your badge thats 20 pats of butter!!!!

Actually thinking of it that way is really quite off putting. I can see why you use it. I think I'll use both from now.

I like to take something up for lent, as I have never done well with things that I can't have - just makes me want them. So I am giving up being an utter slob - seriously the lack of exercise in my life is just shameful. I am full of good intentions that never materialise. During lent, I am going to get my bike out once a week and get my heart pumping.

OOH JiminyCricket, that is food for thought for me (pardon the pun), every year I ask my hubbie to check my bike over and get it road worthy, every year I might use it once(if that :-( ) It must be now about 8 years old and has probably only been used less that 10 times, here is to pondering if I should follow your example for lent, with the hope that it will become the norm! I do however walk home from work when I am not picking up the grandchildren and now the light mornings are coming I will be starting to walk to work again. :-)

I have a daily treat of a milky coffee in the morning so I will give that up and have herbal tea instead. Sorry but I couldn't give up the small amount of butter I have but good luck to you on that one.😊👍

4.5 hrs to lift off, now have no butter in the fridge, going to weigh in in the morning and watch the weight melt off. If I lose a stone by end of Lent , 13th April (which just happens to be my Mums 88th birthday) I will donate £5 for each pound to The Heart Foundation.
