Measuring butter

In the USA butter is sold by the pound. Each pound is divided into 4 sticks; each being a half a cup. Each stick is wrapped in waxed paper with tablespoon measurements on it.

In the UK, butter is also sold in 250g sticks wrapped in paper. On the bottom it is marked into 50g slices. Usually I'd just weigh it if I needed less than that.

In the US. I only buy Kerrygold which has measurements by the tablespoon. My preferred measurement is a dollop.

It's very confusing when converting to grams!

Very confusing, I bought a digital scale so I could try to convert some of the recipes.

HI G1nny that helps me a lot today! I went through my grandmother's recipes this morning, which call for a 'stick' of butter, and I was going to have to do some thinking.

So one stick = 1/4lb = approx 113g. Thanks!

Any advice on converting 'box of vanilla pudding'? I'm going to try dry custard mix.

Once I get past all the size conversions I then have to go through the calorie calculations!

Not sure on the pudding; if it’s instant pudding we just add 2 cups of milk.
