I wasn't sure how else I could keep this here as a visual aid, for myself and anyone else who finds it useful to look at how much 1/2 pound of weight equates to, so I've made this into a post. I hope you find it as helpful to see as I do! It's 10 packs of butter, and each pack of butter is a tiny amount over 1/2 pound. So at week 1 weigh in, I lost 9 of these 10 packs of butter in weight. When you look at it like that, it's easier to keep going eh?!
PS...Other brands of butter are available lol, I don't work for the company or anything!

Oh your post made me smile because last week my friend brought her new baby to see me (he was born in June). While I was sitting cuddling this bundle of loveliness I commented on how heavy he was, my friend told me the baby now weighed 14lbs. I suddenly realised I had lost three times the baby's weight, it made me understand why I felt so much better and why I'm so much more mobile. Unbelievable that we carry all that excess baggage before one day we get that light bulb moment and realise we have to do something about it.
To think that we carry this extra weight with us all the time! i was walking up a steep hill, flagging a bit! A cyclist was taking in the view and said, you should try it carrying a bike up the hill......I couldn't help but reply....I said I was carrying five extra stone on my body...Next year I'll be carrying a bike instead! We chatted for about ten mins. Nice chap
I hear you, toast and butter was one of my weaknesses! Fortunately hubby and son aren't bothered, so now we just don't have any butter in the house at all, only low fat spread for me if I need it. Have to say tho, lately I've been eating hardly any bread, swapping over to salad/veggies etc. No chance of fancying more bread if you don't taste it, I figured!
Its a fabulous way of visualising weight loss. I remember a few years ago I had a wonderful weight watchers leader who brought in bags of lard in 1/2 lb to 5lb bags and if anyone said "I've only lost......." she would wave the bag of lard around saying ONLY!!! She was funny and a huge inspiration. I got to goal in her class.....if only I could have maintained 😔
Your butter is a great visual aid ! Before I lost the first of the three stone in total I had to lose (working on the second two now) I realised my extra weight was the same weight as my dog! I could pick her up but I wouldn't want to carry her very far, yet I was already carrying a whole dog around with me every day, granted my fat wouldn't wriggle like her but still!
Lol, I love the comments about the baby, and the dog, and the realization that you are/were carrying that around. My road ahead is long but I've been really honest and open with hubby and son. I got my son to get on the scales as he hardly ever weighs (doesn't need to, he's like a rake!). He weighed in at 7 1/2 stone (he's 12). I told him...I am literally carrying YOU, plus extra, around on my body. I took a good look at him and thought...I can't even pick him up...how the heck am I managing?! So, I have to lose my son in weight...now that was a shock to the system but also a wake up call!
