G’day my ms family. As always I hope that “YOU” are well rested and ready for another day of this ms adventure. 20+ years of playing the game and mine so far today is pretty slow and slow. Just the way I like it. Surprises were cute at 7 years old. Today at 50 something I would rather not have them I say that is the way “YOU” want to work at getting your life. Slow, laidback and very few surprises, especially health ones. All in all “YOU” want to become Australian, laidback and slowish.

After all my years with Relapsing-Remitting ms (RRms) I have found that there is very little that if I really want to, I can not do. I am limited by how much effort I want to put into something. That is not to say that there are things I should not do. I have studied RRms and I know there are things that are very bad for my condition. I should not overdo things that heat my core body temperature up then try to do fine physical or technical tasks. I know that this varies day to day even hour to hour. I need to adjust my habits, compensate for my weaknesses and adapt. It is not just me, I am sure that “YOU” are that way as well. No matter what “YOU” are told, try’ make an effort. Fail gloriously and spectacularly then brush yourself off and shrug. “YOU” just learned a limit, “YOU” now know something that “YOU” can not do. Do not assume because “YOU” have ms that “YOU” can not do things. I get the greatest internal thrill when instructors at my gym ask me, and ask if I can do a chin-up. I smile and say one I think, as I punch out 11. Do not underestimate yourself. “YOU” and I will have this disease a very long time, it is progressive. It is supposed to get worse, do not limit yourself until “YOU” really have too.

Why limit yourself with a lot of “I can not do that, because..” Try, make an effort. If it is important to “YOU” then try, try again. I do not think that “YOU” should every let yourself be limited because somebody said or “YOU” saw it in a book somewhere. Make your limits be imposed by “YOU”. Fact-base them, “YOU” tried your best but “YOU” just can not thread a fine needle. Not because somebody told “YOU”, “YOU” can but because “YOU” tried and tried and found an alternative. This is a life long illness. Why give yourself limits? Why hold back on experiencing this, your life? Give yourself a reason to succeed not fail. Make every effort to stay away from that cold dark wet dungeon of sadness and depression.

Live it to your best and maybe try a little4 harder and live it a little better than best. Never limit yourself. Say, of course, I can do that the only thing stopping me is me.

Royce (your ms writer)

today I live life to its fullest
