Hello...I am hoping to find someone ( or several people) to talk to about my condition. I had a routine hip replacement in February, I was suppose to go home a day and a half later. Instead I went home about 4 weeks later...I had severe nerve damage from my knee down to my foot..I live with terrible pain ...some days better than others...I have foot drop and wear a leg brace...now it's 5 months since my surgery and my life does not even resemble what it once was,,,I go to PT three times a week...one of the hardest things for me to accept is that I can no longer drive! My entire life has changed...I was always upbeat and independent and now feel like a prisoner in my house since I must depend on others for every little thing. I was an elementary school teacher, which of course I had to resign from..that devastates me since I loved teaching...I desperately need someone to talk to who knows what its like to have your life (as you once knew it), ripped from you suddenly

Hi and welcome to the MSAA forum. I have nerve damage to my right leg and foot, which resulted from a horse riding accident. I had to have major disc surgery but unfortunately it left me with foot drop and I drag my leg. I walk with a walker but also use a cane. For the foot drop I use a device called a Turbomed which greatly improves the walking, it’s made in Canada, but some people on here have had help buying it with their insurance. I was a mountaineer, skier, dog walker, fitness director, so I know what it’s like to have it all taken away from you like everyone on this forum. You are not alone. I notice that you did not mean to post on here, but you are welcome any time if you want to vent, have a laugh or whatever. As for driving, I got my car adapted so that I can drive it with just my hands. There are ways and means around everything, it just takes time to get used to it. Blessings Jimeka 🦋

I am also a retired elementary school teacher. MS made me take an early retirement. I fell down 3 years ago and fractured my hip. Wound up with 3 hip surgeries in 7 months because it simply would not heal. I do have foot drop (left side). I use a walker to get around short distances and have a scooter (GoGo) for longer distances ... like to some doc visits or even some shopping. I have a chronic problem with severe pain but Tramadol gives me just enough relief. I also go to the pain clinic and have periodic epidurals. Currently my hip has healed. All of my relationships have suffered except for the one I have with the Lord. If you would like to discuss "things". I would be happy to. Let me know and I'll find a way to get you my email address.
