Hello! In april last year I had a sudden dull pain in my middle joint of index finger, after giving it a massage for a few minutes I noticed it was swelling rapidly, the pain stopped the same night but in the morning I woke up with a swollen finger. My dr.thought it was some kind of an infection so she prescribed amoxicillin which hadn't done much. Finger was swollen for about a month or smt. I went to a dr.2 months later while it was still being a little swollen, I did a CBC and urinalysis and everything was within normal range. (To note, I was a heavy computer user, I used to be on a computer for about 7-8hrs every day for about 10 years). She gave me naproxen but I don't think it did the trick back then. I remember I changed my work from using computer to not using it at all for 2 months and somehow my problem has stopped. There's no remarkable visible swelling, I just have this kind of a morning sensation where my palm of the fingers give me a swollen feeling once I wake up and try to make a fist a couple times, then it is gone after few times. There were days my index finger would swell up. Also, one morning I would have that feeling, the next I wouldn't. My dr. thought it was RA so she did CBC again, Ast, alt, fibrinogen, urinalysis, and ordered C3, C4, RF, ANA, ANCA. Everything came back normal, ANA was 2+, but they wrote below that the ANA they found was not typical ANA for autoimmune diseases, it was moderate intensity and more likely associated to some kind of inflammation, medication use, alergy or some other, non-autoimmune conditions. Now, first three fingers of my both hands give me that swollen sensation in the morning, my index finger still looks kind of bigger than the one on my non dominant hand, I had a cut/injury one day on it and it swell up the next day for a few days, then it reduced in size. My dr.thinks the cause of this is same reppetitive use but she also made an appointment with a rheumatologist and told me that they might want to do a nailfold capillaroscopy. I did the NFC in a private clinic. The conclusion is: the appearance of a nailfold as well as the flow are within normal range. Some of the loops have dilated arms/ansa but they don't meet the criteria of megacapillaries. There are no visible microhemorrhages. At today's examination there are no pathological changes that would indicate an increased risk of developing systemic sclerosis, dermatomyositis or MCD. Today I was checking on my arms and I noticed pinpoint red dots, it looks like someone literally poked my skin multiple times with a needle. I have some on my chest but raised and bigger than those on my arms, I have had them for years already. But these look new to me as I don't think I have seen them before. I'll definitely ask my rheumatologist whether they are connected to my problem or not. But does anyone know what these might be? I have posted a photo of bigger ones I have had for years (on my chest) and smaller, new ones (on my arms). I have 2-5 on my back and not even a single one on my legs, feet. I also have 2 on my face for about 3-4 years already, not sure if those are the same thing. I burn easily in summer and I have always had some sort of alergies on my skin as a kid, my skin is so sensitive but I don't know what these are... P.S. I apologize for my bad English.
Red dots on skin: Hello! In april last year I had a... - MY SKIN
Red dots on skin
I've started getting these too. I recently started taking sertraline 50mg and then noticed the spots two days later so stopped to see if it made a difference. I have that many I can't tell whether more have appeared. They are mostly on the top of my hands, I have 3 on my stomach and some on my neck, chest, foearms and the odd one on my hand. I have three on my right thigh and none on my feet or the rest of my legs. I think I'm anemic as during both of my pregnancies my ferritin has been super low and was given iron tablets. My youngest baby is 9 weeks old & I did develop a couple of these red spots during the pregnancy and put it down to hormones but now I have hundreds so not quite sure. They look exactly like yours. If I scratch them they bleed but you can barely tell as they're so so tiny. Do yours bleed?
