I'm glad that you're doing well.

I feel like I finally got a breakthrough as well, though it was only last night, so I'll see if I can sustain my progress. I am feeling hopeful again as well. It is an awesome feeling that I did not think that I would get to again.

I’m so happy for you!! I feel like I’m in the same place 🙏🙏 I want to be an advocate for ocd and people getting the right diagnosis and treatment since it took me years to find this. I am a Christian and many people here have mentioned God. I’m wondering if you could share how your ocd has affected your faith. For awhile, it would scare me that God would ask me to do something horrible. I didn’t know this was OCD and fought those thoughts for years. I know now they’re intrusive and feel set free. But I struggle with other people taking my ocd seriously. What about you??

That is so good to hear! I'm am so glad you are a Christian as well! What do you mean when you say people taking your OCD seriously? That will help me answer your question.

What I mean is they think it’s because I’m “clean” (I had a cleaning/organizing business). This isn’t my ocd at all. Or they don’t believe it’s real.

Yes. I know exactly how you feel. I struggled with harm OCD. I told my mom about some of the thoughts i was having, but she didn't really understand. She just kept telling me to think of something else. At the time i didn't realize that it was OCD, so I kept trying to fight the thoughts, which only made them worse. After doing some research, I knew it was OCD. I didn't tell my mom to much because i was so afraid that she wouldn't understand. I was afraid she was going to think that I was crazy. So I struggled alone. It was one of the most difficult and dark times of my life. But I held on to hope. I believed God would pull me through and He did.

I’ve had similar responses. My parents know nothing. They will never understand but I have a loving husband who does so I’m thankful!! I try to limit who I tell, but it’s hard because I want to educate people and reduce the stigma
