Well, good question. We started out as the Scottish Officer of Depression Alliance in 1997. We became an independent charity in 2004 as Depression Alliance Scotland. We changed our name in June 2011 to "Action on Depression" to better reflect the work we do.
We receive funding from the Scottish Government, charitable trusts and from donations from individuals. We do not accept funding from the pharmaceutical industry.
Our staff team consists of 3 full-time and 4 part-time members of staff based in Edinburgh and we are the only national Scottish organisation working with and for people affected by depression.
