Hello Tordis

There is every chance that your depression can be helped by taking Sertraline as prescribed but you will not know until you give it a try. Don't expect quick results. Good luck.

Hi tramadol is a pain med and I have never heard of it being used for depression before? Sertraline on the other hand is an ad med and hopefully will help you. If it doesn't there are lots more to try. x

lilaclil, tramadol is a highly addictive pain medication. It can produce a high so I am guessing that Tordis was self medicating with it rather than using it for relief of depression under medical supervision - in the same way that people use alcohol, smoking and recreational drugs.

Tordis , are you working with a medical practitioner on the tramadol - coming of any addictive medication can be really hard - not sure what the withdrawl symptoms would be like for. its a very specialised area but there are support groups out there - just as there are support groups for people who are stopping alcohol and smoking.

this is a link to UKNA - if you aren't based in the UK then there are similar organisations in other countries as well

Hidden , you are right that not everyone who takes tramadol becomes addicted. I have also found it an effective pain relief and have not become addicted, but I have also avoided using it continually for extended periods.

hope that the pain eases soon.

have managed to pinch nerve in the small of my back so great deal of sympathy for you. Find that keeping moving seems to be the thing to do with that - and avoiding some twisting and bending movements. Don't have an tramadol at the moment.
