I have had anxiety as long as I can remember, I always thought it was a part of my personality and didn’t even have a name for it until my late 20s. After having children it got really bad and finally saw the doctor about it. Turns out I have adhd and gad. Social situations can cause me to spiral and I am not in the best of relationships for support or understanding. Generally I feel very alone and although I try all of the things to be normal and functional the anxiety seems to sneak up and once I’m in it it’s weeks before I feel better. I have taken vyvanse for adhd and it helped with my ruminating thoughts but it kicked off the anxiety. Lorazapam is great in the moment but I feel worse when it wears off so unless it’s a full blown panic attack I avoid. I am starting on sertraline now to see if it helps. I’m not taking the adhd meds as they are good when I’m taking them but if I miss a dose my mental health goes down and having adhd I often forget to take it in the morning. (Have to take early or won’t sleep) is there anything out there that isnt doctor prescribed that people find helpful to combat anxiety?

I was on sertraline for depression and did not find it helped. It made me very anxious and nervous so am on mertazipine now and the gad is much better. Put your pills with something you use every morning. Mine are next to my deodorant! My friend took up this suggestion and puts hers next to her heating aids!
Hello Jitt109.
I, too, have always suffered from anxiety, and thought, like you, it was just how I was. At around 40 years old, I went to the doctor's as I felt worse. He prescribed Fluoxetine, which is an anti-depressant. It took many weeks before I felt better, but surprisingly for me, it also lessened my anxiety. I am still on it 30+ years later, and though I have spells of depression which come and go, it has really helped me. I would ask your doctor about it if you haven't already tried it.
