Sleep and bad thoughts

I am currently depressed and ill. I am having sleeping problems waking up early (3/4am) and laying there wide awake having really bad thoughts (can't mention the thoughts on here). It is starting to spill into the daytime.

Has anyone been in similar situation?

I feel it is the end of the road for me once I got my affairs in order. I got no hope but see one way out.

Bad dreams you cannot mention ?

Dependent on what the thoughts are and if you have done something wrong you need to attend to the problem

However sometimes, in general can be caused by eating supper to late in the evening, you should have supper, or watching disturbing television shows before bed. Going to bed people should try and go to bed and get up at the same time. each day

To much drink can also cause probles and if you argue before bed can also cause the brain to chew over problems in bed.

Hypotheticaly what have you done, is this caused by concious ?

If not the latter with the exception of the last, you need to approach the problem and deal with it in a positive way

If it is all down to your Mental Health, talk to your Doctor, although dreams can be a mixed bag of the day etc chewing over things.

Sometimes it can be the different levels of sleep, your Doctor can arrange you attend a SLEEP CLINIC

Thanks I didn't think I need a sleep clinic.

My bad thoughts are that I am planning taking my life affecting my sleep and daytime.

If you are having negative thoughts regards your possible Suicide it is important you in the first instance talk to your GP or even Samaritans if your feeling or actions are of an immediate nature

However your Doctor may be an idea if the problems are just thinking about it.

You can try Relaxation Technique Mindfulness, books on Amazon.

Consider hobbies and diversions, they can help move negative thoughts into the background. I generally try something I enjoy before bed, I also do not watch programs that can effect my mood.

Why are you considering to take your life ?

Hi AndFThese are difficult times & it's important that you don't feel alone. I identify totally with your symptoms & feelings...having spent too many nights & days with nothing in my head except thoughts of ending the consuming darkness.

Bob is so right...please see your GP.

When this is your state of mind it's One step at a time. And talk to a friend/ loved one & keep talking...someone who has infinite patience/non-judgemental.

One breath at a time..this is your first step reaching out...

Thank you for your message.

I have a GP appointment this week, I had to fill out a NHS mental health questionnaire to hand in - top scores for both anxiety and depression.

It is confirmed that I am depressed by the way I feel. I have stopped searching for the light.

You may have stopped searching but to quote Hafez Shiraz....' When you are alone & in darkness, I wish I could show you the astonishing Light of your own being'

I also know that when in the darkness no words can help...I've been there...

Hopefully your Gp can prescribe meds...? It really is small steps & will take time... meanwhile...distraction techniques..to get away from ruminations, talk, walk...& breathe...

We're always here for you...we have no promises or cures but please don't be alone... Lx
