Hi Rachel. You'll find a lot of understanding people here. Obviously who are dealing with Anxiety and/or Depression. But also some who have been in your unique situation.Hang in there.

Hi Rachel, welcome such a great group of people on this site, I’ve found great comfort in knowing that this is a safe place amongst those that are going through similar things and they’ve been a great support for my mental health over the years I’ve been on here

Welcome to the site

Hello to you.I am the same as yourself and really hoping I will get better. I am taking Citalopram 20mg, only for 2 weeks so far. I am suffering anxiety which can be worse in the mornings. Does anyone else get this ? ... and what do you do ? When you live by yourself it’s no fun. Any advice anyone ?

HelloI want to be cheerful also.

The mornings are always the worst for me.

I get good days sometimes and I do housework and paperwork.

We are all different as to what helps us.

Lockdown has effected our mental health because we could visit places and events for mental health people.

I'm not sure what to suggest except that if you are feeling less anxious then do things that you need to do.

But we really need backup. Friends we can trust.

Bad news triggers my anxiety. I have posted just now about the problems I have had.

Let me know how you are getting on.

Thank you Chase 888. The effort it takes is phenomenal . I hope the pills work soon. I don’t know how to energise myself.

I have nearly finished my first week of Citalopram 20mg.. I tend to wake up anxious in the morning!! No matter what I dream or think or if I’ve had a positive window! It can from research make symptoms worse so you’re not alone. It concerned me and still

Does but just have to give it time I hope to better us!

Try walking, watching something enjoyable and light that you enjoy, self affirmations and YouTube has a range of videos to help give you tips and phrases to boost positive energy.

If I get a negative thought as I am dealing with depression and anxiety.. imagine that there is someone you dislike, a parrot or something annoying on your shoulder that is saying these things to you.. and just get a pretend bat, object or just say / shout no! Go away! Or something a little more “blue”

It can just shut a process down before you spiral, doesn’t always work as well as you want it to but I try this and can help.

Speaking to anyone you can also helps, a thought shared and all that! Can just take a weight off or make you feel a little more normal. There is a great book called the anxiety journal on Amazon for 6.99.. short, light and easy reading.. opens your eyes to how many things are involved with anxiety and makes you feel a little more normal and like you’re not alone because it’s in a book so it can’t be just you!

CBT therapy can be of use or any mental healthline number just to maybe talk it out a little sometimes and put your thoughts on someone else..

I know I’ve got a way to go to feel more ME again but you can only try and be proactive to making you better x

Hope this maybe helps or eases your mind in some way!

Thank you so much for your reply. I am taking Citalopram too and also diazepam. The panics as I call them are really the worst thing.I feel so tired from trying hard.

Do you know what I mean ?

Yeah, can really be a draining process especially as taking medication can cause tiredness.

Just set little goals for yourself to try and boost your mood and give you a sense of accomplishment.. all we can do it keep trying and aim to be a better version of ourselves just sadly doesn’t come over night like we would want.

Bless you. I want the motivation but it’s so hard. Yet when I just ‘stop’ I find I don’t relax. I just want to curl up in a ball and not wake up. That’s dreadful isn’t it ? I didn’t realise that the medication itself would cause tiredness. Inside my chest the tugs and pulls are just awful. What do you do ?

Yeah totally get you and I felt like that too but you can pull yourself out just takes strength and time!

Try journals.. write down a worry and then whether you can do anything about it.. if you can’t cross it out as it holds no place for you now… if you have a worry you could change or tackle to make yourself happy rationally brainstorm ways to improve and calm that fear.. this can put things into perspective and make things a little less irrational.. also try not to emotionally process things sometimes as things can make feelings much worse..

Speaking to someone you love and trust can help as a problem shared may just allow you to shed some of the weight you carry and allow insight for someone to give you perspective and support..

Try self affirmations either through meditation or taking in the mirror to yourself, just helps to encourage self love and awareness a little more.

Try to focus on right now

Not the past which you cannot change nor the future you cannot predict but right now at this moment and how you are worth something and can be and feel however you want … it’s hard to be out the drivers seat but that doesn’t mean you’re out the car .. possibly look into CBT therapy which I am to help maybe give you that support and tools to get back on track and controlling your emotions a little better..

I try! And thank you that’s such a lovely statement to receive. Just remember:

You are worthy

You are loved

You can be happy

Things can be better

You can control your mind

You can have positivity in your life

Life is a gift and sometimes it takes the toughest moments to challenge the toughest people.. you are stronger than you think just speaking out and asking questions, seeking help and trying medication.. just little helping hands and baby steps to better yourself and your sense of life.

I say this and find it hard to say to myself but it’s always easier to help someone than helping yourself.. just imagine your a friend and if your friend were going through what you are .. what would you say to them? How would you want them to get better and grow..
