Has anyone else had issues with boots pharmacy? I get my meds weekly and recently boots have not been doing my prescription so I phoned them and they said they had no records, so I had to phone my gp to get there barcode number for my prescription, phoned back the chemist gave them the barcode number and well and behold they found it, this has led to me not having enough meds to last the week, this has happened in the past with a previous chemist it the why I moved to boots, the trouble is the gp will not give me my meds monthly due to overdoses in the past, I can’t seem to get weekly meds sorted for very long.

I had an issue a few years ago but it turned out to be the gps side not boots my doctor back then was great but the reception and the built-in pharmacy was terrible my reason for moving to boots some times thay never received my order even though I used to notify them that I was getting low ( like you I'm also being watched due to overdosing but I've been good for a number of years and get monthly meds) boots help me put the order in also this was proof I was not over ordering and I would check to see if they were in about a week later boots used to look infront of me if thay couldn't find the meds and thay even phoned up my doctor's surgery to see if they had been held back I actually remember one time I had to go to the surgery and thay blamed boots and just as I got back to boots thay just get the script from the surgery after me being there for an hour boots asked me if I had enough until the following morning or would I like to wait until it was made up lucky for me I had just enough for the following day.
I'm still with boots now but different area and the only small issue I had was on my last script I wasn't notified that it was ready to collect.
I had the same issue recently

If it was a long-ish time ago now, you could always try a different GP and they may be happier to prescribe monthly if you explain that it's causing you problems.
You could also perhaps put in a complaint over the issue, but they would likely appeal to patient safety for giving weekly prescriptions. If it was way back in the past you could argue that they aren't acting in a proportionate way.
Yes,weekly is bad, monthly is tough enough.
I agree that 1 monthly is annoying. In the US I think they often give 3 month prescriptions. My GP practice will give 2 months, and they are ignoring the local guidance to do that which recommends 1 month prescriptions to limit the risk of medicines wastage.
You can always try asking a doctor for longer. They can only say, "No".
Find out what the local guidance is first. If you're being prescribed something cheap, and paying a prescription charge, you could try the argument that there isn't a risk of medicines wastage. Or the NHS can't really lose money on it anyway.
My Surgery has a chemist attached to the building and they make up my prescription. I tried a service over the internet/telephone and they made a real mess and I ran out of my medications. In my case I take Opiates and I have to sign for them before the script is given. So now after my GP made a replacement script I stay with the Surgery I know. The problem I have my Wife orders my medications and they get them just in time and that worries me as some of the medications can be hard to get. So it sounds like things were rectified quite quickly, could Boots not loan you medications, that also has happened to me in the past.. My Dentist makes up a prescription and Tesco gets that for me, most chemists do have problems with some drugs. Also they make errors sometimes. In my case I now leave well alone
My Wife looks after all my medications and hides them in case I overdose. I have no interactions with my medications and my Wife signs for everything also for Opiates
