I know I’m posting a lot but I thought some pictures might help people to understand better about what’s going on with the swelling from this infection.
So I’ve labelled the pictures 1-4 and I’ll be talking about each picture individually
Ok so In picture number 1 which is a picture of what my tongue and under my tongue is looking like. I feel like all underneath my tongue looks swollen it also has some ulcer looking things under there too that I’ve noticed tonight. And the bottom half of my tongue looks swollen and inflamed as well and you can see there’s little red dots on top of my tongue.
Picture number 2 is a picture of inside of my cheek. The inside of both cheeks is super swollen you can even see it’s pushing up against my teeth. When my mouth is closed more it’s actually resting on top of my teeth a bit. And as you can see beside it there’s a small lump as well towards the top of my cheek.
Picture number 3 is a picture of my tonsils so you can see how red and inflamed they look
And picture number 4 is a picture of my left tonsil. There’s little spots of pus all over it.
Does this look like oral thrush. That’s what my mum thinks it’s is.
Or can tonsillitis cause other things to swell apart from the tonsils (I’ve had a swab for strep bacteria and it came back negative)
A few people have even said that I could have hypothyroidism since I have high TSH levels so could that cause all this to swell.
And I have terrible anxiety as well so could that be the cause of all this?

I’m not posting to get a diagnosis from someone. I want to see if I can find people who’ve gone through something similar so I can get advice on what it could be or what tests they got done.
For your information I have been following people’s advice. There have been some lovely people in this group who’ve helped me out so much these last few months and have made me feel less alone during this time. They’ve helped me with things to suggest to the doctor on what it could be, they’ve suggested home remedies etc or they’ve just left a nice comment saying they hope I feel better soon so I don’t feel so alone during all this. Also I have been posting in other groups as well not just this one. Unless an admin tells me I can’t post about it I’ll continue posting. I’m a 17 yr old girl with major mental health issues like anxiety and depression which makes me have suicidal thoughts a lot of the time and this illness I’ve been going through hasn’t helped with that. Plz if your not going to be helpful then get off of my post I’m feeling rlly unwell and I’m not in the mood to be dealing with people like you so if you don’t like what I’m posting about plz just scroll past and ignore it.
I’m afraid I haven’t gotten a proper diagnosis yet. My testosterone levels are high and my doctor reckons that if women have high testosterone that it can cause fluid retention all over the body. But I looked it up online and can’t find any information about fluid retention in the neck. So I feel like he’s given me the wrong diagnosis. From what someone else has told me and from my own research online I have a feeling that my lingual tonsils are causing the problem instead. If you don’t know what lingual tonsils are they aren’t your normal palatine tonsils that you can see at the back of your mouth. They’re further down and about in the same area where your tongue ends in the back of your throat. But unfortunately most doctors don’t know about lingual tonsils so each time I’ve mentioned it to my GP they give me a funny look and have no idea what I’m talking about. So because they’ve never heard of them my doctors haven’t sent me to get them checked which is really frustrating. Here’s an article explaining all your sets of tonsils including lingual tonsils if you’d like to give it a read pristyncare.com/blog/types-...
Sorry that I’m not much of a help. I’ve been trying to get help from people for months. But I can’t find a solution on what to do. For now I’m trying home remedies but they aren’t really helping.
To get slight temporary relief I recommend: antihistamines (I don’t have allergies but they occasionally help with swelling), strepsils that are both anaesthetic and antibacterial, Salt water and eating very finely chopped raw garlic every day (garlic helps fight off infections)
Dude can you not talk about that your in your 60’s from what I could see on your page I’m only 17 your sounding kind of like a pedo now so I’m going to stop responding your making me feel uncomfortable. I’m going to report you now. Goodbye have a nice day.
Please if I can advise and am not being critical here but you need to look at the advice, information they supply and can offer a lot of comfort and reassurance.
With any charity or organisation supporting you must adhere comply with anything they may offer.
I know will come to agreement and help advise be beneficial to your wellbeing but they do not run your life for you.
I see from reading posted on here several times health issues a lot of this is anxiety and insecurities about health and wellbeing.
One way is to consider your health is to look at structures and methods, systems to ensure that you do not have health issues.
With any mental health issues always advisable to look at diet, nutrition even at your age you need to be aware of the whole concept of healthy eating.
Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine, Tea, Coffee, Cola, Energy Drinks and avoid smoking, any fatty foods and those junk foods.
Lean meat, Fish and plenty of fruit and vegetables. Drink water not fruit juice the mouth and the whole body systems need to be healthy to cope with the sudden influxes and issues that anxiety causes.
One other eat leafy greens Spinach, Eggs avoid if you concerned spicy foods may cause mouth problems Curries highly spiced foods.
I would also look at educating you self on courses on line and by using the knowledge information you gained can help yourself.
To heal with in a lot of anxiety issues and problems can be dealt with by coping methods, structures simple ways each day.
This simply is something you learn by accessing the support I mentioned, one other thing if you do have support not working find some thing else or some other support.
I had my illness over thirty years ongoing started around teenage and undiagnosed then in the Seventies and further back Sixties so my screaming shouting ranting raving closed and ignored by family.
Must add every one who is ill with mental health as normal emotions, feelings and health issues find the crying time as I call it been there so thought better do something about this.
Sometimes we close our eyes and ears not to listen but should be thinking positivity and not negativity.
Just a line met some one in a charity had if mentioned any or read any health issues would start to behave those health symptoms.
Says here he added problems with eyes and he added can not see have a twitch his shoulder started so me being me.
Got to the stage told him honestly.
Any way please can I add one final thought your young please consider thinking the things, aspects of your life going to come eventually.
Do you wish to be having a life of fun, enjoyment and lots of opportunities or do you wish for a life trapped in health issues dragging you down in to the depths of despair.
I have had so much happen to me and am lot older than you but persevere over come had many things hurt harm and much more severe illness and health issues life threating.
I would suggest volunteering working in hospices, children homes, cancer wards, then you find the people who you meet maybe dying may have a shorten life but they do not complain or moan just happy but you know they will never have children get married have friends, relationships, jobs.
You can and still will be alive and this ended the lessons for today.
Now wasted so many years being ill and trying to cope you have a life of lots of years wonderful cherished ones, I have probably twenty years may be more left who knows but have the expectations to move on cope with my issues and think one day since be achieving so many things.
Please take care and if you need to talk am here any time to listen but also to instil positivity.
