Worried about throat

Gross picture and not the best I know but I feel like I need answers and waiting for my phone appointment with the doctor on Wednesday is not helping.

I posted on here a few days ago about problems with my throat but I thought maybe I might get some more answers with a picture.

From what I can see is that it looks like underneath the tonsils is swollen and lumpy (I’m pretty sure the tonsils are the weird shaped things above the things that are swollen (correct me if I’m wrong the part that’s swollen might just be the bottom half of the tonsils)

These are all the symptoms I’m experiencing: feeling like something is stuck in back of throat eg; the feeling you get when a pill is stuck in the back of your throat, slight swelling underneath chin and bottom of neck (which feels really uncomfortable), neck stiffness, swollen tonsils, tonsil stones, just below having a fever, slight dizziness, trouble swallowing.

Also below my chin where it’s swollen it feels like the skin is kind of rubbery which I’ve never felt before. And it feels like the swollen parts in the back of my throat are sitting on my tongue which I feel like is causing a bit of discomfort.

There’s no pain it’s just very, very uncomfortable.

Someone in my last post suggested that it could be mono does this look like it could be mono??

Also I don’t know if you can tell from the photo but I’m also getting tonsil stones. There was a large one on the right side but it came out yesterday. So I don’t know if that is connected to whatever this is or if it’s something different.

I’ve been suffering with this since the end of February and I just really want it to go away but nothings working. I’ve already been on 1 course of antibiotics and I’m in the middle of a second course now but it’s not relieving symptoms. I’ve tried warm drinks and salt water and lozenges and ice blocks.

Idk what else to do.

I have had similar, the lump is a common anxiety thing. The slight swelling sounds like a muscle thing.. Scm muscle problem, ask your doc about it.

Maybe it could be tonsillitis? Or throat tonsillitis?

It could be that’s what my mum reckons it is. I just hope the doctor will be able to help me over the phone tomorrow. I’ve been in so much discomfort for over a month now.

Yeah from the picture and your symptoms it could be it. But hopefully your doctor will tell you exactly what it is. Please let us know :)

I’m going to be speaking to a ent today on the phone since they’ve stopped in person appointments due to the corona virus. And I’ll try and get my mum to buy me some puddings from the shops later ☺️

Hello the Stones are not there now as far as I can see, they are quite normal for some people I can not see the addinoides or tonsles Excuse spelling

You talk to your Doctor on the phone, explain to Him how you feel. How do you feel going into Surgery at this time ??

You could try mouthwashes, I use salt mouthwash when I have a bad throat, I also change my toothbrush regular. If you have had a sore throat and you have been playing with it because of those earlier problems that may have caused a flare.

There was a tonsil stone on the left in this picture and a few have appeared on the right since I took this picture.

The tonsils don’t look swollen anymore but underneath the tonsils look really swollen.

I’m speaking to the doctor today at 1:15pm. I don’t mind going into surgery at this time if it takes away the discomfort I’ve been experiencing.

I was using a mouth wash but I was advised not to use it if I have something wrong with my throat in case it makes it worse. I might try gargling with salt water again though.

And I change my tooth brush regularly and I haven’t touched the back of my throat.

Thanks for your reply 😊

Hi

Write down your questions you want to ask and keep them beside you when they call as we all forget something we wanted to ask after they have gone.

I hope they can help you sort it.

Good luck.

Talked with the doctor on the phone today and she reckons it might be glandular fever (mono) she’s said I have to get a blood test done to see if it is that and if I do have it she said I can go on steroids if I want but I don’t know whether it’s the best idea since I’ve heard some bad things about taking steroids. Otherwise if I don’t go on steroids I basically have to just wait it out since there’s nothing that can rlly help with mono. It usually lasts for about 4-6 weeks. She suggested that I start drinking herbal tea to help with it so my mum is going to grab me some tomorrow. Thank you everyone for all your support during this time! ☺️💞

I know this is from four years ago, but I’m glad I found this. I have a bit of tonsil problems. I’ve had it last year as well and just this year and has come back but I wasn’t sure as scared me because I can’t eat my solids the time I eat it and then I’ll spit it. I won’t swallow but I’ll eat pumpkin soup yoghurt ice cream and whatever else I don’t have a sore throat, but I knew it could be like a hayfever because I do sneeze they’re and there Now that I know herbal tea helps I’m gonna give that a try🙂
