Paranoid schizophrenia and Pyschosis has come back.

Hi, my brother was diagnosed with psychosis and paranoid schizophrenia 4 years ago after he was sectioned.. last year he came off his medication and since December we started to see small changes in him until recently since the lockdown when he has started to get paranoid again. He doesn’t eat much, doesn’t talk to anyone, stays in his room and talks to himself. It’s the same as before. We phoned the care team who can’t come back as he was discharged and he’s over 18. What options do we have as we’ve tried to talk to him but that hasn’t helped.

Carers that have dealt with mental health or counselling?

Have you considered calling the Crisis Team ? Try NHS Information, explain the problem.

The problem is He is an Adult and Has His own ideas. Actions that are irrational may not give access if He has been discharged.

Sometimes the service cannot give a service if He is discharged, the Doctor may need to be approached. If He is reverting back and not taking medications it may be a Section to get Him Stable again, The Crisis Team of three may diagnose further treatment via your Doctor or Hospital, however the way the system is,

It seems medication is needed, can you get Him to see the Doctor ? If He refuses medication and His problem has reverted and He will not see the Doctor, the only way is above

I'm new to the mental health group but decided to join as my son has Asperger's and schizophrenia. Your post sounds like my son's life, he is 24 and has been sectioned 3times in the past 5rs. The last crisis was evident for a long period but getting help was quite hard due to him believing he is well and not accepting that he needs any help or support. Eventually I phoned social work, mental health team and anyone who would listen. They did a house call and he was sectioned that afternoon. It took 3 days and a scary situation where he was barricaded in his flat and police, ambulance, mental health officer, riot squad and negotiators to get him to come out. Long story short he's been placed on a compulsory treatment order which means he gets a depot injection every 2weeks and allow people to help him. He seems to be getting better but we know he will always require a team of support to allow his life to be semi normal. My boy has issues with drinking tap water, eating foods, thinking people are spying on him, the government are spraying the sky's etc etc probably quite like your brother's issues. I really hope in the weeks since you wrote your post you have had some help and your brother getting the help he needs. I feel for you and hope all is ok. If you need help call your local social work department, they have a 24 hour helpline with duty social worker. They have the power to help. Just keep phoning and don't give up. Best wishes
