Feeling numb

Hi there everyone yesterday was a really upsetting day for me, my dog was out on his walk when suddenly he collapsed, rushed him to the vets, they took bloods, scanned him and found he had a tumour around his heart, so we had no option but to put him to sleep. I miss him loads, he was part of the family. I just feel so numb, and in shock because it all happened so suddenly. He was the best dog ever. 😪

Sorry your dog was so ill and had to be put to sleep. I know from experience how much we miss them when they die.

All I would suggest is take some time before you get a new dog, I can be doubly hard as we are still thinking about our old dog.

We had a Jack Russel pat dog and He was missed by everyone in the day centre we worked in together, it was difficult for those who relied on the dogs friendship

We traveled for a time and when we returned, six weeks we were offered a puppy from Dogs Trust. His name was Jax and we renamed Him Pax. a different dog than Pip although that does not make His any less a wonderful companion. Pax is not a Pat Dog, He is no less wonderful and we both love Him. He will be nine in April and will need to look after him just as much as any family member.

Eventually you will move on, sometimes we see a white flash running through the garden and Pax growls sometimes when eating His food, like another dog was there after the bowl.

It is on big loss for you and family, consider this you gave your dog a good home with plenty of love. Be thankful for that. However I do feel we will all meet up again on the other side of our normality

Thank you Bob, it was such a shock, we didn't have time really to discuss anything, he'd been healthy up until yesterday when he collapsed, they scanned him and found small tumours, but one was right on his heart. He was such a wonderful companion, and the house just isn't the same without him, its funny how they have an in built clock, because he always knew, when it was feeding time. I'm going to miss his so much.

Pax is the same like today at 4 He will be waiting at the kitchen door as much to say get my dinner ready. They are such a big loss, it is a real shame and sometimes a disaster in the family when we loose such wonderful family members. I have seen really tough people in funerals show no feeling yet when it comes down to a dog or cat they become a quaking, sad individual. When we lost Pip it was like many people who knew him were so terribly affected,

Give yourself time to move on and hopefully you will be able to ready yourself for a new family member.
