I believe some people can cope and others cannot and do not have clue - my family generally cannot cope with my son being disabled/special needs - Autism nonverbal - I find strength in carers and teachers who know exactly what he needs and how to cheer him up and ways to communicate with him. Recovery from disabled position to happy autistic person/adult had many ways to do this - interest, behaviour from other people and intensive interaction and turn taking - music therapy. You have to interact - professionals are really good for one soul and mind!
