Was feeling better but anxiety is slowly coming back...

I was recently diagnosed with anxiety with depression and prescribed sertraline. I took time of work and have been taking the medication since and for a couple of weeks I felt so much better but now it seems to be coming back. The smallest, most insignificant thing happened and now I feel like it's happening all over again. I can't afford any more time off work and my next doctors appointment is 2 weeks away. I just don't know what to do!? I'm so frustrated with it

Hello Blondie2311

Thanks for your message. It sounds as if you were doing so well and something caused you some upset.

Try to take stock of things and hopefully you will start to improve again. What happened to cause this? Can you tell us more?

You might want to make a sooner appointment with you doctor as two weeks is a long time to struggle.

Have you been able to talk with family or friends about this and do you have some support? It can help to talk or write things down.

The topics and pinned posts could be helpful.

The mind charity at mind.org also have a helpline 0300 123 3393.

Do keep in touch

Best wishes

It's so daft. Last time I spiralled it was because my pet cat was poorly and yesterday he started with it all over again and it's just set my anxiety off all over again. My stomach is in knots and I can't keep anything down. I've tried to talk to my husband and he thinks I am being daft. I would usually talk to my mum but it's my dad's 60th this weekend so I don't want to burden them until that's over. Starting to struggle all over again and I feel like I'm drowning

Hi it takes up to 6 weeks to get fully into your system so have patience and give it a bit longer to start working. I take 150 mgs sertraline and find it works well for me. x

Thank you for your reply. This does make me feel better, knowing it's still taking time to work rather than it just not working. The overwhelming feeling is just too much right now.

Yes I get that as you can feel worse until it starts kicking in. Your doctor should have told you that. x
