Does anyone have any tips? I don't know if it's a fear of public humiliation and throwing up in front of people or of the actual sensation of vomiting or a mix of both, but I have a debilitating fear of getting sick. I haven't thrown up for 8 years, since I was in 2nd grade. Each day when I go to school I feel sick and anxious. What can I do?

How do I get over my emetophobia?
Hi aneres 56,
Welcome to our supportive community. Well done for taking a brave step out of your comfort zone to reach out for help. Hopefully, you will find folks here are only too willing to come alongside you and share from their personal journeys and experiences.
You are obviously having a difficult time right now. Have you spoken to your doctor, and could he/she refer you to your local mental health services for some talking therapies such as CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy), alongside medications such as SSRI antidepressants could be very effective? Here is a UK charity website that might give you some pointers on what to ask for:

Hi there,
I also have emetophobia and it is sooo hard to deal with on a regular basis.
Have you ever tried any therapy? I have had CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and this challenges the horrible thoughts that you have and the association to sick.
Similarly exposure therapy has been proven to be very beneficial for phobias. If you cannot find anywhere/anyone who provides it, perhaps have a Google of it and you can actually begin trying it yourself in your own home.
Perhaps go to your doctors and discuss any options they may have available- its such a common thing so don't ever feel embarrassed.
Really hope this help, I feel you're pain!
