Oh dear,..here we go again!

I have been going slowly down the depression spiral again and it sort of creeps up on you really doesn't it? And then one day I had a sort of a breakdown at work, got 'told off' in the office at which point I had a blazing row with my boss, nearly walked out and am now living with the consequences through my sensitive feelings. I have felt paranoid lately, nauseous, permanent headache, loss of interest and not wanting to mix with anyone but hadn't took much notice until it all came to a head that day at work. I took myself off down the doctors and came away from him feeling like he wasn't really going to spend much time with me, just giving me a prescription for Escitalopram.

Does anybody else get the feeling that their doctor just gives them a prescription to get them out the door quickly?

I have a two week sick note (that I had to ask for) which makes me feel like a fraud because I had to ask for it and now I have to face the awful embarrassment of it all when I return.

I know my manager is fed up with me. I'm fed up with me!

Don't be hard on yourself, I've had some blindingly awful moments myself and some really shocking encounters with some doctors wanting to get the pills out and rush through appointments, but that could be a reflection on the difficulties nhs staff are facing these days too. I've had some fantastic advice from locum and support from other doctors too, I just kept asking for better support. Some things took a while on waiting lists, but being on here or other sites really helped too. Your boss could well be feeling awkward themselves, but if a lack of understanding/patience is a problem, perhaps you could find out a little more about your rights it may help you feel less concerned about what he/she thinks about you and be more involved with what helps someone with your health issue to be supported back to work. Then you can concentrate on what will help rather than over thinking and becoming more anxious.

Thankyou for your advice and support. I do tend to over think and become anxious.

Doesn't it cost the doctors each time they issue a script? If that's the case it wouldn't be in their interest to do it you'd think ...

I agree with Marz about not being to hard on yourself. I've had some storming rows with my boss and I just blame it on my hormones and laugh it off (after I've sobbed for a few weeks!)

Hope you're ok x

Didn't know it cost the doc for a sick note. Why on earth would it? Anyway, thankyou for your reply. It helps when you realise you're not the only one doesn't it?
