I’m not really sure what’s wrong with me

Hi!! I’m Skyler and I think I might need some help with some problems I have.

I’ve done some pretty bad things in the past etc. self harm and starving myself. I didn’t really understand what was wrong and what was the cause of it. I’ve been previllaged enough to have caring parents, I also didn’t get bullied at school, just teased for being ugly. I used to be someone that socialised a lot and had lots of friends, but a few years ago I started feeling antisocial, I was scared of what people think of me, I got paranoid very easily, having suicidal thoughts and overreacting. I also did not care much about what others thought about me. For school life, I’ve always been the one not doing work and not paying attention in class, I’ve been sent down to the principals office for not completing homework. I really could not do it, my attention span was so short I get distracted very easily and sometimes I feel like I’m watching myself through a first person shooter view. I also tend to forget things easily and fidget a lot. I look up quite a few mental disorders but I always tend to have only 1/3 of the symptoms.

Sounds to me like you have ADD. I had ADD at school although I'm now 66. Totally unable to concentrate at school, got anxious, day dreamed. Managed to just about scrape through a few GCSEs by spending hundreds of hours in my room writing out sentences over & over so it would go in. But at the age of 45 I passed legal exams. That was because I discovered I have a thyroid condition. The thyroid is the master gland in the endocrine system. Not many people have heard of the endocrine system in the body. It controls dozens of vital functions in the body, including the brain. Did you know that our brain is made of a high percentage of fat? If we don't eat enough good fats, our brain goes wrong. Also low vitamins and minerals in our bodies cause mental health type symptoms. We need vitamin B12, vitamin D, iron, all B vitamins, zinc, magnesium, and others, in order for our brains to function correctly. I don't know which country you are in, but the populations of "the Western World" are generally extremely low in vital minerals and vitamins. This is due to pesticides, poor quality soil our food is grown in, eating fast food, and generally what we have all been doing for the last 100 years or so. If you want a good chance of improving, you need to get some blood tests done to check on your levels

Hi there Skylerhiya, wishing you a very warm welcome to this community. Thank you very much marigold for giving such good advice to Sky to get her blood tests checked, especially for thyroid levels as I have read some of your posts and you have gone through so much. I am sure life is not easy for you at the moment Sky and you must be worried about your thoughts and lack of concentration. I am concerned though about how old you are, as you have not really told us anything in your profile. You must be 16 and over to become a member of this forum as per the rules of Health Unlocked and the Shaw Mind Foundation. So I would be very grateful if you could let us know your age, many thanks. I think it would be in your best interest to talk to your parents first about how awful you are feeling. Ask your Mum to go with you to the doctors for a full blood test and to be properly assessed, both mentally and physically. Only with a proper diagnosis will you know what is wrong with you, and that way the proper treatment for you can be started. Also perhaps there may be a counsellor at your school that you could talk to or anyone else that you feel comfortable with and can trust. I hope in time things will get easier for you. Try for now just taking one step at a time....one day at a time.....and I am sure there will be a brighter and happier time in store for you once you have the right support in place......wishing you lots of good luck and feel better soon........
