I suffer from Emetephobia (fear of vomit) quite severely, so much so that it interferes with my day to day life, I was wondering if anyone else suffered from the same phobia and had any advice?

Emetephobia (fear of Vomit)
Dear Bethany, you are not alone, there are many other sufferers out there too! However, l know little about your particular phobia other than having a friend who also suffered. Phobias are not easy to treat, however it is POSSIBLE! with the right help, do speak to your GP and also research Psychiatrists and Psychologists recommended to you who specialise in the treatment of your condition. Sadly, if you are in the UK the NHS is so poorly equipped to deal with so many issues they should be dealing with within mental health. However, it may be possible to receive some outside funding to help pay for the specific therapy that you need! Take heart dear friend YOU CAN BE CURED! And then maybe go on to support others suffering the same! It will take a lot of hard work, developing a lot of personal insight and sheer determination but with the right professional support YOU CAN get over this one! 💕 Chloe
Hi Bethany_rachel and welcome to the forum. Chloe2057 has given some helpful advice. You may find it helpful to look at AnxietyUK anxietyuk.org.uk. There is information on their website about emetophobia [factsheets, recommended resources and self help groups] Also, NHS Choices nhs.uk/conditions/phobias. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is available in some areas of the UK. You may like to ask your GP for a referral. I hope this is helpful. Thank you and best wishes.
