my names Ash.. and ive been very depressed recently.. ive had depression my whole life but it just got a lot worse recently .. I have a lot of chaos going on in my life as well.. it would be nice to get some advice on how to deal with anxiety and depression.

Hello Ash, sorry to hear that you've had depression for a long time and that things are getting worse and you've got some chaos going on in your life at the moment. What sort of things have you already tried in relation to your anxiety and depression, which of them helped and which didn't? Is there anything you can do to try and settle some of the chaos in your life, or is it all stuff that's beyond your control?

hi and ive tried medications in the past and it wasnt that sucessful and I cant really control the chaos either..which is also unfortunate for me too.. and my boyfriend of 2 years isn't around due to the fact that hes in jail for drugs so needless to say I feel very alone and depressed over it.

hello welcome to our site, everyone here is really friendly and can all understand what you are going through. What have you tried already for your anxiety and depression? Has anything you already do helped, or helped in the past? Everyone is different but there are some things that can help. For depression it's important not to hide away from life. I know its hard but making sure that you manage to keep connected to others (even if just messaging each other some days) and doing things rather than sitting down all day or staying in bed helps. If you need to start small and just plan a couple of things you enjoy - maybe cooking a meal/ painting your toenails - to do each day. Self care activities are important too as they can help us feel better about ourselves.

Eating healthy food and drinking plenty of water are good, and doing some sort of exercise each day helps, even if its just running up and down stairs/ doing active housework or walking to the end of the road and back. Getting outside is also good - maybe sit in the garden or local park?

some people find listening to their favorite music helps, especially if you dance around to it!!

I'm sure others will come up with other ideas - that's just some that I have found help when i actually make myself do them :)

And keeping sharing on here with others can help too as you dont feel so alone :)

Hi Iceprincess111 and welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear that you have been feeling depressed recently. Have you spoken to your GP about how you are feeling, as he/she will be able to help you? Also, have a look at the pinned posts to the right of the screen as these may also help you. You are not alone and please continue to post on the forum as other members can provide support. GP is a General Practitioner, a type of doctor in the UK. In relation to depression, a GP might prescribe anti-depressants but can also make referrals to specialist health services such as talking therapy, psychiatrists and community mental health teams.
