Hi Im new to this male from scotland.
Hi, welcome to the forum. I'm in a fairly similar situation with the self harm and suicidalness. Are you currently getting help for your depression/feelings?
Im on trazadone after being on numerous other anti depressants and ive been prescripted chlorpromazine for when I get restless and agitated. I have a psychologist and Psychiatrist but feel this isnt helping. Had them for the past 4 5 months.
Why do you think it isn't working? Have you tried alternatives to self harm? I know that for me nothing comes close to the feeling of self harm, but I do find holding ice against my skin for a long time helps delay the self harm sometimes. You should tell your therapists about the suicidal thoughts
Sometimes people who self harm find that flicking an elastic band whilst on your wrist helps
Hi, well done for acknowledging how you feel to others by turning to the website. That's the first move. I wonder whether you have any formal help, whether you have seen your GP and are on meds, and more importantly whether you have anyone with whom you can talk about how you feel?

Hi there, thank you for reaching out and asking for help here. I often read through the posts on here from times gone by and between them they can offer you insight and help with your problem. It is very difficult having these sorts of feelings, but as you can see many of us on here have them and solutions will be different for everybody.
I can offer a few suggestions:
One is to keep looking on here for other posts that are relevant and may help you and to keep posting on here and telling us more about you if you want to. We don't get fed up with people and try to help.
Another is that sometimes with some people medication can make a huge difference to mood so if that is the case with you is it worth having that looked at again and some changes made?
Another is this may sound silly but are you eating properly as getting the right sort of food can help with overall strength. Avoid alcohol as it makes all negative moods a lot worse and reduces your control which makes you more at risk. Also exercise if you are able, even a short walk if you are able to get out of the house may help lift the mood a bit and mixing with other people if you are able.
Do keep asking the people who's care you are under for more support. Maybe there are some social things that you could make you feel a bit better. If you do have any friends or any family members you feel you can confide in then that may lessen the burden but choose carefully as not everyone understands depression and some can be dismissive which does not help matters at all.
There are quite a few links on here to help with distraction from self harm; if you look at recent posts on this issue you will find them.
Also maybe an idea to make a list of helpline numbers in your area and have them by your phone for when you feel particularly bad.
