I struggle every day just to get up and do things. I just got back into a Mental health Dr today. Hadn't been in over 6 months. Didn't really want to go. Don't like admitting there's anything wrong. Needed help thoe, I'm tired of feeling sad all the time.

Sorry you are feeling down, I personally cannot relate to that, but I have bi polar and have been on lithium for years, I have been well for a long time now. My son who is 38 has recently been diagnosed with bi polar, he is like you very low mood, he was prescribed two drugs one was sertraline and then another to control his mood, he started putting weight on and stopped taking the one to control his mood - as a result we all suffered, he is an electrician self employed, he really went down. He is not too bad at the moment but waiting to see a mental health Psychriastrist cannot come soon enough. The reason I am telling you this is that I hope you have family and friends to support you. I think you must be young and frightened by what you are experiencing and this is natural. Do not despair, you will get better, there are new drugs out there, I hated being told I was bi polar, but when I improved I did lie and no one ever knew I was ill during my working life. Now things are different, I worked in a government position, their was a young girl who was clinically depressed and she came and went when she could, employers have a deeper understanding now. Take some extra vitamins too like Wendy Mary suggests, write to me anytime, you will get well again but it will take time. Love Helen xx🤗🤗

Hi Helen, 😊 I have just found this forum whilst looking for help for my 20 yr old son. As yet he is undiagnosed but at the start of his help journey. Gp referred him to mental health team who rang him tonight, but as yet not offered an appt. the problem is, he is so negative about everything, it's proving ni on impossible to keep him positive. He hates telling ppl so it's been hard to get him to open up. He has awful thoughts, really dark, he's admitted he thinks he's a complete failure and that we'd all be better off without him. It's crushing my heart to see him this way. I'm visiting him daily to keep an eye, and he's admitted he doesn't like being away from home ( moved out a year ago) the stress of life is hard for him. He has a job, he hates that too. His girlfriend is very supportive and just wants him to be happy( when he is happy, he's a joy!) I'm new to bipolar but also think he has a social phobia as he doesn't mix well and is also quite paranoid at times. How do you help your son Helen? Sorry for long post, but thank you in advance. X Dee. X

Gosh that's some title, eh , greeneyedvirgo13

In life now and again we have to take knocks , they are the hardest lessons , the lessons we gave ourselves before we came here , these are the lessons that will help us to grow onto a higher level above us , a goal that we set for ourselves . Sometimes all we can do is slow down and take stock of ourselves take our time and carry on working towards that goal be it ever so hard to achieve .
