Hello there Andypandy30
Sometimes our health issues drag us down and we start overthinking, this in itself is a sign of stress. What do you do to distract yourself Andy? because at times like these, it would be really helpful to do something to take your mind off your health, even if it's only for a short while. If you feel your health has deteriorated recently, pop back to your doctors for a check up. Take care.
Chloe
Thank you Chloe I rested a while haven't been feeling well and wasn't able to do much to distract myself but will have to try worked myself up into a state and cried for a long time . Scared when I feel like this it hasn't happened for a while I know my thyroid is out of whack so hormones are all over the place I have to learn better coping mechanisms . Just wasn't expecting to feel so bad . Like a feeling all day just there in the background x
Awww Andypandy30, I know that feeling of sleep, sadness, cry. It's def the +/- thyroid hormones. I wish I could just make it all better. Hang in there. If you are able to just sleep like you said, do it and don't feel bad. I usually watch a TV marathon. Sometimes I say I should go outside. I have to sometimes, and I'm like wow, why do I hide inside? Don't know what you're thing is but a shower and trip to the store might help. Everyone has to go to the store eventually Hang in there! Keep us posted! It's one day at a time! We are here!
Thank you so much I feel very alone . Not a lot of support this end and things get out of proportion . I feel like I'm loosing it and cry I'm so scared . U know what you said rang true for me . I don't allow myself to feel low or have a bad day . I know I should . I know when iv gone low as I feel like this and have to remind myself things will improve . I just forget and work myself up and don't know how to talk myself down . I wondered about medication for times like this would it help

Are you on thyroid medication? I personally started St. John's Wort (SJW) and it snaps me out of that emotionally draining hopelessness. I was crying and angry for not doing anything about ANYTHING! SJW has many contradictions though so please ask a doctor or pharmacist. Look up on Internet also with medication checker. I have many low bad days, actually weeks. I've thought recently how "un-human" I am and how everyone else is managing things just fine. Thanks for posting to here. We all need to share, hear, and be heard. I have low thyroid and low cortisol but because it's in range with the labs, but not functionally, no one will treat it. So I just shave to lose my mind until my blood says I'm for real.
We are here. Post to us everyday if you want. I was keeping a log of a scale from 1-10 for the worst to best days. Mine also includes my hormones and period. All the tests are thepusands of dollars (I've checked) and I can't swing that.

Aw thank you so much for saying that about being heard . That is my thing I think that I feel so alone with it all . I also think everyone else is doing fine while I am not . And I so want to feel normal . I too would prefer to pay privately but am unable to afford it . I too think hormones are completely out of whack and that's when I get scared . I worry I won't get better and these fears are real . Kit I wouldn't be able to express this if I was losing it would I ? So I think that's where I need to start . Yes I'm on levothyroxine just had an increase so waiting to see if things settle . Iv been fighting to get well for so long I fear I'm in the depths of self pity here xx
Hi Andypandy30,
I'm sorry you are feeling this way. I understand the whole overthinking part of health issues (or many things for that matter). I'm sure it's on your mind all day. Have you thought about looking for a support group in your area for people who have thyroid issues? You will meet others who have been in your shoes. Going to a support group will get you out of the house for a minute. Maybe you will pick up some new tips or resources. Check with your local hospital(s).
I'm not sure whether you have hyper or hypo but it can really do a number on your thoughts. Remind yourself that these "thoughts" are feelings and not facts. This is a tool is use for a hormonal imbalance that makes me feel I am losing my mind. Try to talk yourself down, remind yourself about all the amazing things you have (simple things, like access to this site, electricity, your eyes, a pair of shoes, etc).
I also think yoga and meditation is extremely helpful. I go onto YouTube and look for "guided meditations" or "guided yoga." Give yourself a time frame to do this and then stick to the goal. Even if it's a five minute session of yoga or meditation.
I hope your day is pleasant. Keep us posted
Thank you so much for the advice I have hashimotos and usually can cope with the highs and lows it's just so unpredictable and scary when it catches you unawares . So I have to distract myself and talk myself down I will try the YouTube meditations and try and stop it when it happens thank you x
Hi Andy,
I also have Hashimotos! I find that keeping on top of my medication helps and sitting down with a GP who can explain the ins and outs of the condition and the medication is crucial as is regular blood tests to make sure my thyroid levels are right.
Outside of that I find that walking helps me, particularly if there is a breeze. Even just 20mins makes a difference and makes me feel more awake. CBT is useful as it gets you to see the connection between physical symptoms and changes and your thoughts and feelings.
Hope you feel better.
Hi Andy, I'm sorry you are feeling this way. I don't have any experience with thyroid problems but I understand what it's like to be anxious and scared about health issues. It always helped me to repeat to myself that nothing is for ever, these feelings of fear will pass. Like some other people have suggested guided meditations are amazing at helping to calm you down, and really helped me through the anxiety that came with my health problems. It's hard at first (especially when you're worried about your health), but the more you do it the better it gets. This company have some great ones available for free online: franticworld.com/resources/.... Some health issues can cause anxiety and depression too, I had treatment for anxiety when my health issues were bad and it really helped - you should talk to your doctor about whether they think this might help you.
I hope you feel better soon.
I know how you're feeling. Sometimes the fear becomes worse than the symptoms. You're right it's a negative cycle. If you can control the fear it helps the symptoms. Whenever I felt myself panicking I used lie down on the floor or sit upright in a chair and try and listen to the meditations to break the cycle. I hope you find what works for you - I'm sure you will!
Thank you I am listening to a meditation now and trying to stop worrying . Trying to practice mindfulness and stop thinking ahead of myself . I pray I find the strength to get through this X
Hope you're feeling better today and finding your inner strength. I've been feeling anxious today and have been doing these meditations many times a day. I really like the body scan one franticworld.com/free-medit...
Hi I'm so sorry I wish I had seen your post so that I could have given you some words of encouragement . I really like these meditations thank you for helping me . How are you feeling today x
