Please please can somebody tell me about Lamotrigine(can't spell it) because I have been taking it for two weeks after years of mental health problems and I feel terrible. Will this eventually make me feel better? How long does it take to work? I'm on 100mg for the next two weeks then it's being increased.

You haven't had any replies yet as this medication is rarely used in psychiatry. It is a mood stabiliser and antidepressant that can be helpful when other drugs have failed. However quite a lot of people get side effects especially dizziness nausea double vision and skin rashes. They often settle with time and the dose is often increased up to 400 mg. so in summary it sounds worth persisting but maybe not increasing the dose yet if you're still feeling bad.
Hi Devon30
I am so genuinely sorry to read of how you are feeling and I would discuss this with your doctor or medical specialist just in case you are experiencing side effects and / or interactions with your Lamotrigine? I have never personally heard of this medication myself.
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck my friend, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
This drug is a epilepsy medication I was on it with toprimax I'm a little surprised thay put someone with depression on giving the dangerous side effect it has have you read your information leaflet and asked your dr about the risk of side effect. with me it came out when I got low so I couldn't let myself get depressed.
Private message me if you can't find the side effect I'm hinting at and I will tell just it can upset some people
Don't go scaring him yes Steven johnsons desease can be life threatening but that's why he is being titrated up to the required dose so they can monitor and make sure he doesn't get the rash.

Hi I've read good reports from people on a bipolar forum who have used it..
The lamotragine rash is the major thing to look our for.
When I was looking at possible meds when my antidepressant wasn't working lamotragine was one of those that I would of found acceptable, though I'm on a small dose of quetiapine now instead,
I take lamotagine for bipolar type 2 and it's honestly made a huge difference in my state of mind. Although I struggle a lot with normality and miss the highs lol. I've been taking it about 5 months and I feel in comparison to the long list of previous medication I've finally found the one that works for me. Hope that helps. I take 150mg daily the main side effects that I suffer from are feeling sick and headaches. And it can take up to 6 months for you to really feel the benefits. Xx
