I'm new here have suffered with depression for many years. It's like living in a black hole with no light in sight. I take Citalopram daily not sure it helps though. I need to start helping myself but don't know where or how to start. I've let things get so bad the task seems impossible. I often wish I could go to sleep and not wake up. Awful place to be.

It's awful. My husband died 8 years ago still not got over it. I just want to feel happy again. The anxiety is bad I get butterflies in my stomach feel really sick. I hope we can make some progress on here.

Hi

I know exactly how you feel!

We're here to try to help you and support you, so I'm p,eased you've come on the site.

Firstly if your taking the meds and you don't think they are helping go back and see your dr, they can up the dose or take you off of them gradually and try another one. It took me nearly a year and many tries before I found one that helped me.

Yes you do have to try to help yourself and by coming on here you've made a step in that direction, so be pleased with yourself for doing something positive.

Do you know why your depressed? If yes, have you addressed it? If no then maybe try and write your thoughts down and see if something is triggering it. They say writing down your probs is good therapy.

Don't forget allowing yourself a good cry can help, then give yourself a pep talk and get yourself motivated to something which will make you feel better. Think of one thing a day that makes you happy, like a bird singing or the suns shining. It just takes little steps and reaching out for help and support, which you're doing.

U tube is good for relaxation tips and breathing exercises and self help things like feeling good about yourself.

If you look through the last couple days posts someone's put a link on to some NHS help site, I think it's NHS?

Don't forget your not alone and keep posting for chats and let us know how you're getting on.

Good luck and take care 😊

Hi Sweetie,

If you don't expect perfection, life isn't too bad. If tasks were impossible, set an easier task.

I think you are stuck in trouble and want to hide away from duties and tasks. I always feel better life skills is helpful to cure depression.

Personally I feel the light is the love, either love from family, friends, strangers and pets.

I also recommend therapy to find the reasons you are upset. Or you exam your memory to find the cause of your depression.

Kindest regards,

Elaine
