hi all, can anyone help? I started taking sertraline last week and since Thursday I have been feeling dizzy and unbalanced. I contacted my Gp who changed my meds to Fluxotine yesterday. Has anyone had similar or could it be unrelated to the tablets? Thanks in advance.

Yes I had a very similar reaction to Sertraline at first but it settled after a fortnight. You may find you get the same reaction with Fluoxetine but stick with it for a fortnight if poss as many meds have initial side effects that disappear after the first few weeks.
Was unhappy with Setraline for the first 5 days. But it has eased a bit on the 6th. I feel and am advised that we might have to fight through the initial feelings.
Hello Leasy
You need to give the medication time to work properly. Be patient, allow about four weeks or so before the medication works

Thanks all for taking the time to reply. Just been down docs and my blood pressure is through the roof and was high last week apparently so he thinks that isn't helping. I will stick things out x
Yes got this for the first 2-3 weeks and was also extremely tired but after they got into my system more it settled and I was ok. I found sertraline the best because I could still feel happy and sad but wouldn't sink really low. It also helped to ease panick attacks and social anxiety. I really didn't do well on fluoxetine I was almost hyper happy like the joker but everyone is different so just give it time. It really is trial and error.
I am on sertraline and at first I was extremely dizzy and 'with the fairies' now I have been on them two years and I am fine. You just have to ride out the first week on antidepressants before they settle out x
