So I have been diagnosed with severe depression and GAD, but recently I've been very well for a long time, I went back to work have been doing really well, then I went down again only odd days but I mean really down, but now I my panic attacks are trying to come back and I feel eccentric, my world is fast I'm not sad I'm happy I can't talk properly as its too fast and mumbling, my thoughts are rushing around my head, then the next day I could be normal or down again and I know depression does not cause eccentric behaviour so anybody had this same problem??? Any ideas???

I'm on medication, my therapy has finished :( I don't think I'm manic as these eccentric episodes last no longer than a day

Because you are suffering GAD, you may like to use not only this site. Also

Possibly, Anxiety Matters, part of Healthunlocked as well

We get people with Anxiety as well as the depression. The other site however can possibly help you as well as most there cover the anxiety part of the illness you are suffering from

Hope this helps

Hi who says depression doesn't cause eccentric behaviour? I am the same or rather I used to be when I was younger and my moods were more extreme. I could be hyper one day and the next down again. When I was hyper I would gabble but I was always extra sensitive and any adverse remark could plunge me futher down in the depths of depression. Is this what you are talking about? x

Hello Bev

When I have company sometimes I am always concerned that I have upset anyone and I always ask Hazel if I was alright with them as in the past my moods would sway backwards and forwards.

I still worry when we have company or when I am out and about.

It does seem like you are a little bipolar although with your headline condition this can in some ways show as bipolar,

So the condition has been diagnosed as GAD, i can see where this diagnosis comes from. GAD can be very similar to some of the diagnosis to a manic condition.

Have you ever discussed the possibility that you may be presenting with symptoms of bipolar with any of your health care professionals? That would explain the 'eccentricity' of your high days and the hell you are going through on your low days. Has any healthcare professional prescribed or suggested a medication called Depakote?

I am not a doctor but it almost sounds a bit like bi-polar disorder? I would go back to your gp and tell them everything you have just written down here. I hope you get on ok and get things back to normal.
